Hello, fellow role-players! I'm currently looking for some players!
System: Exalted, 3 rd
Edition.
Day
and time: Mondays,
5 PM GMT (8 PM for me, if anyone is interested).
Number
of players: 4-5.
What is Exalted?
The
best description of Exalted I’ve heard was by some person on the web, whose
name I have, regrettably, forgotten. He said that Exalted in a nutshell is like
Sumerian epic, but all the characters are Gilgamesh. It’s a game about heroes that
are so larger than life, it’s not even funny.
Imagine
warriors that can fight whole armies on their lonesome and win. Imagine
courtiers that can make a kingdom prosper or bring it to ruin by uttering just
a handful of words into some ears at court. Imagine sorcerers able to summon
demons and bend them to their will and utter world shattering incantations. Or
assassins that never miss their mark while never being spotted themselves. All
of them are members of an immortal, perpetually reincarnating race that at the
dawn of Creation defeated beings who gave birth to the world and all current
gods.
Your
character was a mere mortal, even if he was one of the best. Maybe he was a
warrior without peer, or a merchant prince who controlled a huge mercantile
empire, or a magistrate respected and feared throughout the Empire. Or maybe he
was a city urchin, hardened by the difficult life on the street, making him a
peerless thief. You can even be a person of great potential, with that
potential not realized during your mortal life. Regardless of your background,
you were chosen by Unconquered Sun, chief god of all Creation. And so, he
bestowed a shard of his very immortal soul to you, uplifting you, making you
more than mortal. Making you a Solar Exalted.
But
being Exalted is not easy. Once, Solars ruled Creation, as representatives of
Unconquered Sun in the world of mortals. The First Age was an age of glory and
wonder. But as all good things, it came to an end. The Solars were betrayed by
the more numerous Dragon-Blooded, who fought to overthrow them and imprisoned
the souls of the fallen so they can’t reincarnate. The Dragon-Blooded have
created a religion that justifies their rule and shows all other Exalted as
demons possessing human bodies.
So,
after millennia of imprisonment some Exalted souls found their way to
reincarnation, awakening in a world that views them as monsters, and a world
spanning state that has specialized schools to train warriors to hunt Exalted,
who are now called “Anathema”.
But
the Empire is no longer an undefeatable juggernaut that it once was. The
Scarlet Empress has disappeared, and the state is on a brink of civil war, as
internal struggle for control is raging on. Exalted could not have chosen a
better time to return.
Requirements:
1) Ability to speak understandable English (duh!).
2) Willingness to be a participant, not a spectator.
3) Willingness to not be a dick.
4) Desire to role-play and not roll-play.
5) A decent microphone and a stable Internet connection.
6) Tolerance for a bit of crass humor.
7) Players new to the system or old time vterans are both welcome.
What
you're getting:
1) A GM that has some 10 years of game mastering experience, though completely
new to Exalted (and it's a huge game).
2) A non-railroaded experience, where you are in total control of what you and
your character want and don't want to do.
3) A world that reacts to your actions.
How
to apply:
Contact me via Skype (my login is: vnergalv), and we will have a chat.
I do this only because much too often I had people apply for a game and then
turn out to not own a usable headset, or having an accent so thick, I just
could not understand them (I consider my English quite good for a second
language, but it's still a second language).
Plus, we will be using Skype for voice communication, so adding me to your
friend list is unavoidable, if you want to play.
Posting questions is OK. But I will ignore
"want to join" type of messages. If you want to join - add me on
Skype.
Notes:
1) Exalted is a complex, and even complicated game system.
You will be required to skim through the rulebook, and to READ the rules
specific to your character type. (So, if you are a a Dawn Caste brawler, be
sure to acquaint yourself with the combat chapter, and if you are a socially
adept Eclipse Caste, be sure to know what Intimacies are, and how you can
affect them. A player asking you first session "So... umm... what do I
roll to attack?" is undesirable). This rant does not mean I will not help
you. But I will not spoon-feed rules to players.
2) Being versed in the setting is a plus, but not required. Look up a wiki or
something. The setting is so huge and there is a wealth of previously published
material for 1 st and 2 nd editions. I am myself new to the game and setting, so demanding anything more from the players is just unreasonable. Also, my
Creation may vary from the official Creation. It’s just how I run games.
3) Regarding character sheets - we will be using PDF character sheets kindly
provided by MrGone. You can easily find them flexing your google-fu. If your
google-fu is weak, I will provide you with a link.
4) Setting wise, the the characters will most
likely be Solars who are just past their exaltation, and have little to no idea
what is happening and how drastically their life if going to change.
Feel free to ask any questions in this thread,
PM'ing me, or contacting me via Skype.
