Deck of Index Cards?

A lot of games I own require writing on index cards in the course of play or as part of setup. Reading the forums, the common suggestion for making these index cards seems to be a rectangle grouped with some text. That's fine. Some games, however, require then shuffling those index cards and drawing from them randomly. Is there a way for this to be done? I could use a deck if you can draw on cards then put them back in the deck, but I don't think that's possible.

I can't think of any easy way to do this in Roll20. Cards lose all data that has been added to them when they are put back in the deck as far as I know. Best way might be to number your index cards and then roll a 1dX to select which one to use. I realize this is not ideal and no where close to what you really need, but it's the best I can think of. Someone more in the know may have a better alternative.

Not sure how you handle this in play, but would a  Rollable Table work better?
Possible, albeit slightly clunky, solution:  Make handouts that contain the text you want on the 'index cards'.  Give each handout a unique name. Then make a deck w/ the cards being the title of the handouts.  Then have whoever draws the card read the text on the handout.

Alternatively, number the relevant handouts and roll a die to pick which 'card' to use.

If it's part of setup, you could use the  Savage Worlds Custom Adventure Card Creator . There are, of course, limits to the amount of text, but it could work in a pinch.  It's a bit trickier if done during play, but that tool does create the cards on the fly, so, it may still work for you...
Not wanting to be a smartass, but, if the players don't need to interact with the cards except through you, you could use a deck of index cards on your desk... I keep outlines and certain notes on paper for my games.
I ended up numbering each possible result and rolling dice, mostly because it was a GMless game so I shouldn't know what was written, either. That was the biggest sticking point for most of the ideas. Thank you all for the suggestions.  The Savage Worlds card creator is nifty, and I may use it for other things.
