Rogue Trader Game on Monday 7pm gmt+2

We are looking for 4-5 players to play a Rogue Traders. Newbies are encouraged to apply. We prefer having players that have some knowledge in WH40k lore but not necessary. Currently have no limitations on character creation and ship creation. If interested please post below or pm me.
Bump
Another bump.
Well I might as well say something here. I'm the one who will be the GM of the campaign should it happen. I have played 40k games for about 5 years and I'm quite experienced with the lore and in the role as gm. What goat did not mention is that I only really need 2 more players in order to actually run a campaign, but I will at most accept 5 more (6 players total). It'd be best if we could actually get 6 players to fill all the different roles. As for what type of campaign I will be running? well thats largely up to you. Do you want to explore the uncharted outer reaches of space and build an empire? sure! Do you want to build the largest battlefleet the imperium has or will ever see? go ahead! Do you want to earn fame and fortune and have your name reach far across the billions of stars! I'm sure we can work something out. Now I do have a few ideas for campaigns that I'd like to try, and I'm now going to mention one of them. Now keep in mind as I explain it that It is only a suggestion, and that I have not decided upon what type of campaign to run until I have heard what you might be interested in. You are a Mighty Rogue Trader and his (probably) most trusted officers and advisors. But oh how the Mighty have fallen! It seams like it was but a decade ago since you reaped in the benefits of your great fortunes, but fortune seam to have turned for you, for now you are but a shadow of your former glory. Within barely even a century, you have suffered misfortune upon misfortune at the cruel hands of fate, finding yourself almost drowning in debts and lost fortunes. Your former allies, whom you once called "friends", have turned on you. Like vultures devouring a dead corpse they have taken everything they could from you and your once great family, all but your warrant of trade, a handful of transport ships, and your grand and glorious Flagship and it's loyal crew. All is not lost however, for while you have been left bare, wounded and lost almost everything, there is one thing you now have, that you never had before. A Lust for vengeance, and nothing to lose! A wounded animal is after all most dangerous when wounded and cornered, and you are not one to die without a fight. Even a man who has nothing may have means to rise once more from the ashes in which he was buried and left for dead. You have a ship, a crew, and a small bit of wealth left, enough to get you going. You must expose your rivals for what they are and retake what was rightfully yours. But how will you do it? Will you turn to piracy while avoiding the authorities? Will you outwit your foes and leave them empty handed without even spilling a drop of blood? Or will you take what's yours with brutal force? The choice is as always yours to make. Will you reclaim an Empire in it's own right? or will you die trying! In short, this campaign would have you start with an almost non-existent profit factor, but own a very powerful battleship! Your end goal is to earn at least 60-70 profit or so, and bring those who betrayed you to their knees, while reclaiming most of the worlds you previously controlled. if you want to draw a comparison to a game, then I'd say it might be close to things such as Total War or Divinity Dragon Commander, in the sense that you will be conquering and building a small Empire, while also persuing other goals in the form of regaining lost glory and exacting vengeance. So if you are interested in this campaign setting, or not but still wanna play, then just announce your interest to join in a post here. If at least two more players are interested, then I can start a campaign. Oh, also the time and day is negotiable, although I am busy most evenings tue-sat, but not in the mornings.
Hi, I am willing to try if you willing to let me :) I'am familiar with WH40k a little, but not much, mostly know dark heresy, never tried rogue trader, just heard of it. Total war campaign driven by revenge might be interesting :) Monday fits for me, but i could play only from 8+ pm, 7.30pm tops.
You are very welcome to join us. Now we only need one more player.

I'm interested, which particular books are being used for this? Going to assume Fantasy Flight's release considering Johan's profile. I'm familiar with d100 and I know Warhammer lore to a fair extent. I've never actually played Rogue Trader itself but I know the general idea of the game. Also, how will sheets be handled? I can bastardize a Mythweavers Dark Heresy sheet unless you have an alternative.
I'm a huge WH40k fan but never played Rogue Traded - if you have a spot, it would be awesome to play it ;]
Sure. Now we have only 2 more spots left.
If you have a spot left i would be interested even though i have never played rogue trader. I however do know quite a bit about 40k!
I'm also interested, but I'm a bit unsure on the time
@Chris: Well newbies pick things up pretty quick. If you are familiar with d100 system, that's basically it. @Magne: Well we are still working out the exact time but maybe if you can tell us what time you would be comfortable with we would consider changing our time.
I'm interested in joining.
I take it you are full now. But i am interested in Rogue Trader. I have played several campaigns of Dark Heresy so i know the basics of the system.

Please do not use the Dark heresy sheet, once I'be open up a campaign room I will put a link to an editable character sheet for rogue trader.
Also, before It is decided upon which ones of you get to join. Let's talk a bit about what you like to play as. Below I will post the 6 main careers/classes, and a few more starting options in the form of non-human races. Bare in mind that one player HAS to play the Rogue Trader, and also that xeno characters will make certain things more difficult (but can make things more interesting) Rogue Trader: leader oriented character, balanced in combat. Plenty of social skills. Arch Militant: Military advisor/general, can be seen as a second in command to the Rogue Trader. Prime focus is combat and less so on investigation and interaction skills (unless the interaction is intimidation or interogation). you don't need to choose, but at least anounce what you are most interested to play as. Astropath Trancendant: The psyker class, nough said. Explorator: The Tech-Priest, for all things technical. Navigator: Psykers, yet definetly not psykers, navigators, aside from having the important job of navigating through the warp, have their own "houses" and special navigator powers. Senechal: Butler, Assassin, negotiator and investigator, the Senechal could be considered a 40k version of the Rogue. Void Master: While the Arch Militant handles the ground, the void master is master of the skies and in space. The Void Master is the ship pilot, and could be seen as a fairly good balance between knowledge & operating skills, and combat talents. Ork Freebooter: Anyone who knows anything about 40k should at the very least know about orks, and how funny they can be. They like three things best: Speed, Noice (Dakka) and a "Gud' An' Proppa" Fight! They are entirely combat focused, primarily for close combat and tanking. Bare in mind, that the Imperium hates these xenos ALOT! Kroot Mercenary: Kroot are hunters, carnivores, and ofcourse, xenos. From the flesh they eat of their fallen prey they mutate and grow stronger. Dark Eldar: Sadistic and somewhat perverted SoB's. I don't actually have the official rules (though i can probably find them), but they should be rather agile and posses pretty good weapon finesse and intelect. They are however not very though once hit.
Since i have only played Guardsman, Adepta Sororitas or Adepts (Dark Heresy)... I wouldn't mind playing a Astropath (psyker) or a Navigator
Oh yeah, I forgot, there's also a Missionary Career. Basicly a warpriest. And mirthless, in terms of shipboard roles, the Astropath is the communications officer and the navigator is, well, the bloody navigator (which actually is an important career).

yeah, i have the Rogue Trader PDF and all of the other rulebooks. Can't wait to cause a psychic phenomena tough :P
Arch Militant or Senechal for me. Would like to play some ninja/miltiary guy
I'm interested in Void-Master since it's a ranged class, which I feel would be a safer option. Not to mention suppression fire being quite useful.
OK so now I know what at least three of you are considering. Still no one who wants to play the important role of the Rogue Trader him-/herself? You'll eventually (unless you opt not to build a small empire and instead just go around killing s**t) will get to make those juicy decisions. Basicly I'm taking a page out of Divinity Dragon Commander's book. In that game you had ambassadors from the various civilized races, and once in a while they would make political propositions that could bolster your efforts in some way. ofcourse, not all of them would agree on something, so while popularity with those who agreed will rise, the popularity and public opinion of those who did not will fall a bit. I will likely try something similar after you take control of your first real planet (or small system), but instead of representatives of each race, you will have representatives for various social groups and authorities in imperial society. There will be a representative each for Military, Economic, Religous, Scientific and Civil matters. These will sometimes approach the Rogue Trader with propositions, and you can talk to the other representatives to hear their opinion. Approving or Disapproving the proposition will then have various effects (some good and some bad) later on.
Also, I have sent out invites to 4 of you, and with goat that means 5 players are invited. That leaves one spot remaining. Those of you who haven't received an invite, I'd be nice if you could again tell me how interested exactly you are, and if you are still available. Also saying what you might be interested to play as helps.

Actually i would like to play the astropath or dark eldar :)
If there was a place going I'd like to give it a try. I'm totally new to RPG's like this but I'm pretty familiar with 40K and have access to the books.
i,d definetly play the rogue trader if spots still free
So first off, let's see what kind of experience you guys have. I do not mean we are looking for more experienced players however we are looking for a person with genuine interest to commit and learn the system. Second, if you have a certain extent of knowledge in WH40k lore, please write a very brief background on your character. It doesn't have to be a college thesis size piece, but the more you flesh out the better. If you do not have any knowledge of 40k lore, write the background for your character as you would if the character was recruited for different reasons in different universes like being a bodyguard to the captain as Chewbacca to Han Solo, or being a natural thief as well as an excellent navigator like Nami in One Piece. I am only paraphrasing to the above example so please, don't make a flame war on this thread. That is all.

Thomas G. said: i,d definetly play the rogue trader if spots still free Well we certainly neeed someone to play the Rogue Trader! But could you please tell me your general experience, as in have you played any 40k rpgs (or rpgs at all) before? Now, the following is more directed towards everyone who have not been invited. First off, it's nice to see so much interest, so much I'm a bit sad that there's too much! I could probably make two groups with this many players! Right now, the ones that are invited are goat, Mirthless, Kyantol, Vygantas and Lukaz, but Lukaz has yet to respond to the invite. I have receieved a PM from Mirthless putting in a good word for Chris, and yesterday I also received a PM from a player that, while new to 40k rpgs, have played plenty of other rpgs for 4 years and have extensive knowledge about 40k, and finally is willing to play the part of being the Rogue Trader. Now as I was talking with Goat on skype a while ago, and he said that he could consider being a Rogue Trader if no one else would, otherwise he'll play a kroot. Now I'd much rather have a player that wants to play a Rogue Trader rather than one who does so out of necessity. So as there is so much interest just flooding in for this particular campaign, and since I absolutely hate leaving people dissappointed. I have decided to let two more people into the campaign. If Lukaz ends up not joining, then we'll have our 6 players, otherwise, we'll end up with seven. Well I've handled more players! However, I will want things to go more smoothly so I will be preparing macros and such for everyone to use, and I won't let rule related arguments last to long (that's stuff for the forum in between sessions). The first session(s) I realise will have more talk about rules ofc, that i understand, but once everyone is familiar with them I want things to proceed as normal. Now then! As I mentioned earlier, If interest still persist, I might make a second group to play at a different time. Now as allot of time has opened up on my schedule, I do have time available to run games during the afternoons (and mornings) on most if not all weekdays. Now sunday is open but I'd like to keep it that way (otherwise I pretty much got something rpg related every day). So what I'm going to do now, is that I'm going to tell you the players I'm currently considering to invite. If you don't see your name, but are still interested, then please announce that and post your available times (preferebly in GMT+2, but your own timezone is ok as well). The ones I'm considering atm are: Chris, Thomas G and Samiz. If I create two groups I might still put you all in the same room and have two rogue traders build their empires "at the same time", but starting in two different corners of the subsector/expanse you'll be in. could be interesting, but it would be up to you if you want potential competition or want to go "solo" in the campaign.

I am only paraphrasing to the above example so please, don't make a flame war on this thread. That is all. Oookay. I have played PnP games for a solid ten years now, mainly D&D. I have recently played some Dark Heresy but have never played Rogue Trader before. If you check my profile here you will see i have 267 hours played on roll20. I am quite experienced with role playing games! My 40k knowledge consists of me having read pretty much the entire wiki and having played several 40k video games including WH40k space marine, WH40k Dawn of War, Dawn of War II, all the expansions etc. Most of those are kind of Astartes based though, so i know more about that stuff than about civilian life i suppose. I would not like to play the rogue trader as i would feel awkward being the leader on my first time playing this system. The two classes i am most interested in are the astropath and the explorator, depending on what the party wants. This makes it kind of awkward for me to write a background since i dont know which class you prefer me playing, have no idea of starting "level", etc etc. I will give it a shot, but would like to note that this background might be subject to change! Xavier Helix Krieg is a Magos Errant, attached to the rogue trader through the sponsoring of the traders house by the Adeptus Administratum. In return for his expertise Xavier is allowed to study interesting sites the expedition comes near and transport sensitive materials. Xavier was born on the forge world Opus Macharius within the Calixis Sector. Xavier loves learning new things and (to him) new tech, so he entered the Adeptus Mechanicus. After his novicehood he was relocated to Idumea, where he continued his studies. His studies took him to several different worlds throughout his ascension through the ranks. Having learned vast amounts of knowledge Xavier found it was time for him to go out and recover ancient STC databases and technical knowledge lost since the dark age of technology. He is currently attached to a rogue trader fleet, and uses his resources for the greater good of the Machine God, scouring for ancient technologies which lie bayond the borders of the imperium of man. Again i have no idea about level etc. I dont know if a magi would be too high up or if i should be a Novice or a Menial or something. Ill also figure out my bionic limbs and mechadendrites and electro-grafts etc later once i know more about starting level and if im even invited to the campaign in the first place.
I have played a few Dark Heresy games and am currently participating in one at the moment, Not played much rogue trader howe recently bought the core rule book and i am very interested to have command of a ship with the help of my trusty officers. I have alot of experience in 40k i play tau in table top and have a ork fantasy army, i dabbled with battlefleet gothic. But i have also read a great many black library books so i definitely know the lore and fluff. So yeh, alot of knowledge with the universe and played a few 40k rp but never rogue trader before but keen to have command of a battleship. Where my desicions effect a large crew.
Well then, this has convinced me. Thomas G you will be the Rogue Trader, Chris you will be invited as well. With this the current group is full! So if you have not been invited, but still want to form a group, I want you to post that interest here! along with available times!
Hello there. Bit late in my reply but wanted to show my interest in joining if any places become free or a second group is made. I am a complete newby with regards to PnP RPG but would say I am quite knowledgeable about 40k and am looking forward to learning. Due to budget I have only managed to get the core book and Into the Storm, I will be getting the rest as I can but I hope them two will be enough to begin with. Not sure if playing the actual Rogue Trader would be good considering it will be my first time playing anything like this but could give it a try. I can fill otherwise, have been thinking of Militant or Missionary so can do a bit of medicae (hey, someone has to patch up the group,) or Astropath because blowing someone up by just thinking it sounds rather cool, not to mention the hilariousness of some of the possible phenomena and perils. As for time, 7PM Monday your time is fine with me, in UK so would be 5pm for me. Any evening is also okay if the time needs to be changed. Oh and my profile saying I have GM'd 1 game is just me testing out the interface, I have not actually GM'd a game. If the game goes ahead without me, good luck in your endeavours.

What about Fridays the same time? you available that time?
I'm happy to play the RT if nobody else wants it. Very experienced RT player here.
Johan K. said: What about Fridays the same time? you available that time? I am indeed available at that time.
Geez there's so many of you I could make a third group at this rate! Well unoriginality, you are invited to the friday group. Shawn G, cool that you are experienced and wanna play as an RT, but both group 1 and 2 seam to be pretty full atm. Don't worry though, I might make things even harder for myself and run a 3rd group if interest persist! This might interestingly become a bit competitive, as there now are two factions who vow for control over an expanse, and as you may know, only one faction can own all the territory..
ok people, so we need two more people. One for the Monday group, and another for the Friday group. The reason is that one player got a job that prevented him from participating on the monday sessions, and another failed to take timezones into account in the friday group. The Monday group plays 8pm gmt+1/+2 (live in gmt +2 but have gone back an hour to save time), and the friday group plays at 7pm. The Monday group is going for the more standard Rogue Trader scenario, but with the whole "reclaim the lost empire and get your revenge" thing. The other is going for the pirate and smugglers route. Just go ahead and post here or pm me if you are interested.
Definitely interested in the Monday group.
Alright Samiz, You will be sent an invite to the monday group. We still need one more for the friday group.
