More layers

It would be nice to be able to add more layers to a page so that creating complex scenery becomes easier. I would place walls and flooring on one layer. Furniture on the next and so on. One should also be able to choose the layer type (token/background/gm) on creation.
At this point there is no intention to do this. Adding layers is a significant hit on browser performance. At this point the two player-visible layers with the ability to order things within those layers is our plan going forward.
We don't currently have any plans to add that for a couple of reasons. First off, Roll20 isn't meant to be a full-fledged mapping program. If you just want to throw together a quick simple map on the fly it's great, but if it's something that complicated you may want to look into a tool like Dundjinni (<a href="http://www.dundjinni.com/" rel="nofollow">http://www.dundjinni.com/</a>), which will let you export a JPG file you can import to Roll20 to use as your map very easily. Secondly, every layer we add causes a significant performance hit due to the way browsers render them. Let me know if you have any further questions on that! We're still trying to find where the "line" is on all this stuff ourselves...
