Lonely, wannabe Numenera player LFG.

Anyone have a room for a player in their Numenera group? Or maybe, there are a few others out there looking to form a Numenera group? I'm just trying to figure out the system at this point. I haven't even created a character yet, so I'm not comfortable saying I'd run anything. I'd like to find a small group of role play focused players to figure the game out together. I'm experienced with table top gaming but exclusively D&D/Pathfinder. I'm in the US, CST and my play time would have to be weeknights or weekends, generally.
I'd join you as a PC. I'm not confident in my DMing skills.
Sounds good. Maybe we can find a GM.

Hi Tom and John, I would be willing to try running a game for you and up to two others. I have some Roll20 experience with Savage Worlds and Iron Kingdoms, but have not yet run Numenera. It would likely be on a weeknight and I'd most likely be using some of the available adventures (at least to start). This week is a bit hectic and I'm going to a local con this weekend (where I hope to play in my first Numenera game, I'm #1 on the wait list). So I'll have to look at details early next week. As a starting point what days/times work best for the two of you? I'm on the East Coast myself and evenings work well. Something like 8-11pm (7-10pm CST) We can give it a whirl and see how it goes.
That'd be great. I can work with those times on any weeknight. Do you want to shoot us a PM when you aren't so busy?
I can play almost any night after 5:30pm eastern.
OK, put up a "Numenera Test Run" campaign and set the link to the two of you via PM. Once we get underway, I'll come up with a better title. We can talk details there.
Depending on the time im willing to try. I... honestly dont know much about numenera but ill get to reading if its required. I know its diceless and has artifacts and some ambigous reactive alignment system. Magic seems abstract aswell :/
Hi shfhs f, Actually it uses a D20, but is not a traditional D20 system. It does have artifacts, but no alignment system. I'd suggest you check out http://www.numenera.com/ and see if it sound like something you would like to try out. In any case, I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have. Regards, Rudedd
I helped kickstart it, so i do have the pdf. I just never got around to actually reading it. I must be confsuing it with anotehr DnD ruleset then...
That's great, I'd say skim over the PDF and see if the setting/mechanics grab you (no need to read in detail unless you want to). Mechanically it's relatively simple in concept, but has some nuances. It has a single die mechanic for task/combat resolution.
Hey Guys, thought I'd put out there the best days for me. Those would be Mon, Tues, and Thurs (for awhile) after 8pm EST. I could possibly do Wednesdays starting around 9pm. Would like to keep the weekends free for family time. Also would like it to be every other week for sessions, but encourage game discussion between sessions. Since we are all new to the game I think we will have a lot to discuss mechanics wise. I am also a proponent of player involvement in where they would like to see the game go. I like to incorporate player ideas into the plot (maybe not directly or with some twists). In fact, if the group is interested we can create an Obsidian Portal site for the game to track characters, locations, NPCs, etc...
I've never used obsidian portal. Is it just for DM notes or do players help maintain it to? Either way I'm fine with it.
Obsidian Portal, OP for short, is a campaign management tool. It has an adventure log, wiki pages, a forum, a calendar, maps, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few items. Players can keep track of characters, keep a character journal, contribute to the adventure log, etc... It's what the players and GM make of it.
Sorry i havent responded, but im busy certain days. Thursday and wednesdays would work for me.
Hey Shfhs, no problem. We can likely make Wednesdays/Thursdays work for the game. I'll invite you to the game via PM.
