[LFP] Long Term 5th Edition Campaign. Sundays 6pm-10pm EST

Greetings and Salutations! I am running a game for a group of Critical Role fans and we recently lost one of our players due to a scheduling conflict. We are only one session into the game and looking for 1 (maybe 2 depending on how good the applications are) replacement. The Date and Time: Sundays (weekly) 6pm-10pm EST (GMT -5) The Game: The game takes place in a homebrew setting called Othaera. The characters are all members of a monster hunting guild called The Black Talon. (If you are familiar with Critical Role, think The Slayer's Take.) The party recently finished their first contract as members of the guild, the collection of some Basilisk poison glands. During a well deserved break in the port city of Garigill during the Solarian Festival, the party attempts to thwart an onslaught of Ogres. The party manages to dispatch most of the Ogres, but two of them escape, carrying off 3 children including the daughter of a merefolk monk named Dagg Mer. Dagg Mer informs the party that every year for seven years, Ogres have carried off children of Garigill, to an Annis Hag. The Annis Hag only stays on this plane for two nights and previous attempts to retrieve captured children have failed. The party agrees to assist Dagg Mer in retrieving the children and set off toward The Kragstaff Mountains in the distance. Character Creation: I'm pretty reasonable when it comes to building your character. Any homebrew within reason is allowed as long as I approve it first. If there is a homebrew that you would like to use that is unbalanced, I may even be able to balance it for you so you don't have to give up on your character idea.  Starting level is 3rd. I have several options for generating your stats, you are free to use whichever one you are most comfortable with. Every character starts with 2000 gold pieces for purchasing your equipment, this includes some uncommon magical items that are mass produced in the world. (Just ask and I'll give you a price if it's available.) The current party is as follows: Half Elf Warlock Half Elf Bard (College of Lore) Dwarf Paladin (Vengeance) Warforged Monk (Homebrew Way of the Dragon) Human Cleric (UA Protection) Application: Use the following format for applications. Feel free to post here or send in a private message. IRL Name: Age: Experience (5E and Roll20): Roleplay Style: Character Name: Race: Class: Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences): Thanks for your interest in our game!
IRL Name: Dominic "Monk" Age: 21 Experience (5E and Roll20): Been playing 5E since it came out, and have been playing tabletop well before then. I've also been using roll20 for a couple of years now, both to play and DM Roleplay Style: For this particular character I was thinking of a greenhorn spellcaster, fresh-faced and just out of academy. Character Name: Lyle Race: Human Class: Sorcerer Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences): A sorcerer orphaned at birth, grew up at an academy for the magically gifted. Flunked his studies, as he had no love for books, eventually left to make his own mark on the world
Hello I have come to the conclusion that your game timing is ideal for me to play.  I have level 5 rogue ready to go but will create character to join.  Knowledgeable creative player/DM looking for enthusiastic group of fans and good DM for Sunday adventure.  You can count on me to show up and add to the fun.  Interested in playing retro and 5e adventure modules.  Retro D&D material collector and owner all 5e books.  Experienced DM on roll20 looking to play but can make great addition to group to fill in DM if need be.  Interested in committed Sunday play.  Please message me.
My rogue arcane trickster beginning lev 5 would be a nice addition to your party.
Hi Ray. Not to be rude or anything but please actually read and pay attention to the initial post. The DM had laid out specifics that he is looking for.
Thank you for the reply Jendi.  I have had such bad luck and low response rate to game applications that I am surprised anyone reads them.  I have recently left a group playing on Saturdays because the day was not working for me.  I have some experience with Roll20 and D&D 5 so I would be able to blend into any group effectively. IRL Name: Ray Age: 46 Experience (5E and Roll20): Played D&D tabletop as kid in 80's and 5e on Roll20 as player and DM.  Sunday is the day for me and now all I need to do is find some fans like me to hang with.   Roleplay Style: I like all styles of play Character Name: Killrr Race: Human Class: Rogue Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences):   Killrr is ex military and is accomplished with stealth and combat.  Killrr aspires to develop his arcane skills to eventually become competent with damage area effect spells.  Killrr will work well in the group often surprising enemies when it counts. I do not have experience with Critical Roll but will use my knowledge of D&D and natural creativity to add fun and support to your games.  I have determined the time you play is the best time for me and you can count of me to show up regular.  I am a big fan looking for other fans to give me the break I need to start enjoying this game again.

IRL Name:  Stephen Age: 28 Experience (5E and Roll20): I've been playing 5e since it came out and am currently in 3 games, although one of them is played only on the nights we don't play another one of them. As for Roll 20, I've been using it since mid 2014 and have learned a lot about it since then. I've mainly GM'd games so it kind of became my responsibility to learn the ins and outs. I have also created two character sheets for the site (Dogs in the Vineyard and Blades in the Dark). Roleplay Style: It depends on the character, but I'm not very serious about staying in character all of the time. It's all about having fun after all. Character Name: Race: Class: Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences): I don't really have a full on character in mind but the Arcane Archer archetype for Fighter from the UA looks pretty interesting. I'm also willing to fill a role if needed, but it does seem like everything is covered. I do also have a rogue I made that I never really got to use. He was a half-elf if I remember right and was a guild artisan. His whole thing was he was a tattoo artist/assassin. So whenever he assassinates someone he also leaves his mark in the form of a tattoo. I'm not sure what I would go with for the Fighter but I could come up with something while making them.

I hope this is ok, i know its kinda homebrew, but i figured it would not hurt to try and show this character. ^.^' IRL Name: Carrie (call me 'Tiz' tho plz) Age: 23 Experience (5E and Roll20) : I am a bit experienced with D&D 5e, seeing as i have played it off and on in the past. I am pretty new to Roll20 though and still am getting used to its features Roleplay Style:   (I like a good mix of in depth role play for my characters and epic fight scenes.) As for my roleplay style, I have many characters that i think would fit into such a campaign,(though that is only my opinion), I think for this, i would choose one of my favorite characters, even though she is not a standard race i think that my Changeling Rogue would work. She is normally a Chaotic Good, and plays a good balance between crafty and kind hearted. Character Name: Jessie Val En'quel (Jess for short) Race:  C hangeling Class: Rogue Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences):  Jessie was a Changeling found and raised by a high elf priestess who greatly sheltered her from the world and told her that she was a high elf as well, but when she grew old enough to put two and two together she knew she was different. After meeting a rogue by accident and having a chat with him while on an secret visit to the village form her abbey, for months he secretly trained her to be a rogue and one day after the man simply disappeared she left home, against hers wishes to find her teacher and whats more her future...

IRL Name: Brittany Age: 27 Experience (5E and Roll20): Have been playing 5E for over 2 years IRL and I have played for almost a year on Roll20. My current Roll20 group is ending and I really want to keep playing on here. Roleplay Style: I really enjoy RPing and staying in character. If you PM me I can send you link to the youtube videos of my currently ending Roll20 group. We recorded them so that we would remember where we left off cause we didn't play that often. Character Name:  Kelai Thunderfist  Race:  Half Goliath (if you allow) Class: Fighter Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences): Raised by her human mother, Kelai became a member of the Garigill army. After a few years of service, Kelai decided to leave because it became clear that her mixed blood would prevent her from every becoming more that what she was. She sought out a new line of work that would allow her to find a place where she belonged. Also, I am writing this as I am watching Critical Role! Love the show, actually met Mercer and Jaffe at AAC in NH.

IRL Name: Adam Age: 21 Experience (5E and Roll20): almost 2 years (both) Roleplay Style: Anything and Everything, I like playing heroic characters that tend to be smart/naiive etc. Character Name: Jevrath Korengian Race: Dragonborn (Gold) Class: Fighter Brief Backstory (2-3 sentences): Self-exiled Nobleman who left for adventure in the world. He wants to be a hero, but is never afraid to bargain with a villain if he thinks it's important for survival (he's chaotic good). He's also a member of a knightly order that basically fell into nothing. And yes, I was in another campaign with Jen (like Rob and Kev).

IRL Name: Kev Age: 29 Experience (5E and Roll20): While I've watched games of various editions of D&D over the years, I only started playing 5e in January of 2016. Since then I've played as well as DM'ed over 2000 hours of 5e and consider myself a fairly well versed player. Gameplay Style: I enjoy a mixture of difficult crunchy combat, intrigue roleplay and cooperative PC teamplay. (I detest PvP of any kind in D&D.) I typically play characters with high charisma/wisdom and/or intelligence because it meshes with my instincts as a player. Roleplay Style: My primary weakness are character voices, as such I don't do them. Instead I'm a descriptive roleplayer, I'm good at describing my characters speech, actions, demeanor and motivations. (This doesn't mean I don't highly enjoy people who can do great characters with awesome voices though, I just cannot recipercate.) I've had a lot of practice at not using meta-knowledge and instead take lots of campaign specific notes to keep track of character knowledge. Character Name: Red Race: Lightfoot Halfling. Class: Rogue Assassin (Cross-class Fighter.) Lawful Evil. Brief Backstory: Red has known from an early age that there was something wrong with her. Unlike her fellow jovial Halflings who delighted in frivolity, Red enjoyed only the pain and suffering of the small critters she hunted for food. This became apparent to the other Halflings, until she was shunned out of the village she was born in. Now slightly older, knowing that indulging in her dark urges is a quick way to end up hanging from a gallows. Red has learned to muzzle and leash her sinister nature by working as a contracted assassin 'problem solver'. She operates purely by a strict code. "Only kill people listed by the client." and "My word is bond." Living strictly by this code has thus far allowed her to satisfy her urge for the kill and while keeping her out of trouble with the law, for now. If that character is too dark or edgy for the party, I'm perfectly fine with creating a Neutral or Good aligned something else to fill some niche in the party composition. (Honestly I prefer to join a game without a character in mind and decide it when I hear what the other players are rolling.) Also, I may or may not have played with Jen in another campaign. =D
I'd like to thank everyone who showed interest in the game. I wasn't expecting to get half the responses I got. Everyone had awesome applications, but there are only so many slots. If we happen to have another player drop out I'll be keeping you folks in mind if you haven't started new games by then. For now, this game is full!
