Deliver Us From Evil The year is 1230 AD. The church has been rocked to its foundation by the Waldensian Heresy, and a scant year has passed since the Albigensians have been put to the sword. Europe struggles to recover as the fires of the first serious inquisitions are yet cooling, while the aftermath of the disastrous Fifth Crusade remains a blight upon the hearts of the flock within Christendom. Yet even these stand as petty concerns, mundane heresies and earthly wars that remain inconsequential to the greater mission of some. They are called the Shadow Inquisition, a highly secretive order of holy men, spies, martyrs, warriors, occult scholars and demonologists who purge the shadows of Europe with fire, faith and steel. The get of Satan infest the land: perfidious demonic cults, undead abominations that hunger for the blood of the living, wolf men that prowl the forests and unclean spirits who take the bodies of the faithful for their own. These men and women have honed their minds and bodies into living weapons against evil, forged by the power of their conviction and their piety of purpose. They stand as the only defenders of good Christians against all that Hell disgorges upon a dark and broken earth. In the Kingdom of France, the region known as Vexin has recently come under the French crown once more, though many yet retain their Norman ties to the English king Henry III. It is here that you were living your life when it all began. Perhaps you were living somewhere in the bustling burg of Pontoise, a penitent in the halls of Abbaye de Mortemer, a servant in imposing Gisors Castle, or a common serf in the village of St. Quentin just on the edge of the haunted Rambeaux forest. You were always marked out from the others by your uncommon faith, not knowing that God had a greater plan for you. When a string of mysterious murders and disappearances mark the beginning of terrors which sweep across Vexin, your brush with true evil marks the beginning of your mission. The curtain has been drawn fom your eyes and you cannot look away; the falcon cannot hear the falconer, the center cannot hold. Now as things fall apart, anarchy is unleashed upon fair Vexin as the blood dimmed tide is loosed and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned. Surely some revelation is at hand; surely the Second Coming is at hand that such evil would walk the world. You must take up the cross and stand in that gap. There is no turning back. __________________________ Out of Character This is a Dark Ages: Inquisitor game that is currently looking for one player to supplement a group that is mostly filled. Characters will not begin the game as members of the Shadow Inquisition, but ordinary people from different walks of life within the Dark Medieval of Europe. Any prospective players need not be familiar with Inquisitor, as all materials will be provided for you upon acceptance to the group. The game is to be run over Google Hangouts+ and Roll20. We are only accepting adults and prefer mature adults at that. The setting is extremely dark and realistic, dealing with questions of doubt, faith and fanaticism in the face of what seems to be impossible odds. The scheduled time is non-negotiable (sessions are once a week on Sunday at 10 AM Pacific) and will generally run for four hours. Interested applicants can find more information below. __________________________ https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/68467/dark-ages...
