Everyone is given a room. Roach insists on staying with the common people to help the wounded and hurt. He immediately gives his share of the loot to the church of Tamara. Gurgle seems a little jealous. Ailekk is invited to “roost” in the third floor of one of the main buildings, with an open window to the outside but it is still somewhat sealed from the elements. The rest of the night, the party can choose to assist or not, but only a small handful of guards remain loyal to Raffolk. Most go down without a fight. First 48 Hours The next two days more elves and orcs are out in the town fighting, while Oron and Breschka seem to be coordinating with both the city/castle guard (Breschka) and underworld organizations (Oron). Gangs and police alike have joined sides to rid Dravens’ Port of the undead menace. As they continue to clear and fortify positions near to the castle, the undead still wreak havoc. Many of the militia forces work to drive the undead forces to the ships, using teams of clerics and priests. The dragon presence wanes a bit, and although Oron and Brescka wield political authority, either their popularity among the green dragons is just a select few or maybe green dragons just don’t like to fight enemies immune to their poisonous breath. Out on the streets, strangers become allies as everyone fights for their lives. Over the first couple of days many refugees are smuggled to the castle as the royal staff tries to figure out how to accommodate so many people. Meanwhile, Oron and Brescka are trying to put together a team of trusted allies who can help them, as well as identify useful (Oron) and good hearted (Breschka) people to assist them as they try to assemble a small government in the first 48 hours. Off to the southeast, the nobles seem to have barricaded and blocked themselves off from the rest of the town, fervently defending their homes from anyone who might encroach. Elves of Thrinegrove and Orcs of Bonehammer allied to Goleborn (and now Sahiva) begin to arrive in the city. While the sailors manning the blockade of the bay seem to have not sailed off, there has been some infighting amongst their number. Some options for players include: Set up shop or do something constructive with your time (merchant) Help with refugees in the castle (volunteer) Help the castle staff (support) Help clear the streets of Dravens’ Port (join the militia) Cozy up to Breschka and Oron (political) Help Breschka & Oron organize things (administrative) Meditate/pray and search for answers (spiritual) Look for clues around the castle (investigative) Help clear the castle (explore) Patrol the sewers (scout) Talk to soldiers and allies as they enter, trade information (network) Any other option The Castle Tavern: Raffolk’s Wench (first 48 hours) [META - Your character only gets the info if they speak the language] As the player(s) approach the tavern, the old sign is being painted over. The two painters are arguing with a man (the owner) about what the new name should be. Inside are a few dozen soldiers, diplomats, and even peasants with swords. All look exhausted and many are wounded. Topics of conversation include: Human (in common): “Did you hear about the heroes who destroyed that tyrant? People say they’s had a half-demon warrior with them who decapitated the prince with his flaming longsword.” Human (in common): “If Brescka and Oron’s so great, why wasn’t they here before the undead. I think they planned it all.” Human (in common): “Obviously the Dree are going to invade. They brought back the revenge of Kiernard upon us. I think all them Nards running about in the sewers are in cahoots with tha Dree.” Human (in Draconic): “Another bird-man is flying around. He picked a hell of a time to show up. Why he’s sticking around? I he as bloodthirsty as that bounty hunter? Is it a he or a she?” Human (In common): “If this holds out much longer, we may have to start drinking that dirty dwarf’s ale.” Second human “It doesn’t taste that bad.” A couple of orcs talking (in orcish): “Sahiva has officially allied with Goleborn. I thought thems was rivals? 5 troll teeth says Behlya Sahiva would decapitate that Oron in a fair fight. Not that either one of em would fight fair.” Orc and half-orc (in orcish): “Sahiva’s brother, Urdimsh is a cold blooded assassin. He snuck into that prince’s chambers with his servant half-demon and they slaughtered him where he stood.” A dwarf from Gravelback (in dwarvish): “I can’t believe I came here for this. I mean, I don’t mind tha fightin’ but doin it alongside these pig-faces is creepy. Not to mention all the nards running about.” A couple of Elves (in elvish): “Another century, another undead infestation.” Second elf (in elvish): “Yep.” A couple of sailors (in Thieves’ Cant): “Captain Swell is here. He lost his ship to Captain Keth in a race a few months ago, Captain Keth sold it to Oron and now it’s being used to smuggle halflings out of Corrive.” Day 3-5 Day 3, things begin to shift. Undead have been bottlenecked into the ships docked in the bay, driven outside of the town, or pushed into the arena in the center of town. The arena was built mostly into the earth, and the bottom layers are the same altitude as the sewer tunnels. As this happens, the sewers become immediately no longer easy routes for people to pass and now are dangerously full of undead. Meanwhile, 48 hour alliances begin to diminish as the streets get more safe. The gangs and seedy-types gain their advantage of maneuverability in the skirmishes against the undead as they begin to fill up sewers and tunnels beneath the city. Militia begin pressing them into service. The players may now leave the castle, which is getting crowded, but things are far from safe. Undead and other strange types of undead (like ghosts, ghasts, etc) roam the city at night. During the day, thugs and even renegade soldiers patrol the city. Elves of Thrinegrove and Orcs of Bonehammer are coming in less often, although they seem to be sweeping up the remanence of the undead armies nicely. Strangely enough (or not), some help did arrive from North Dravens’ Port but little has arrived from Guilds Town. Those who were prepared, or well defended, during the attack begin to open shops and commissaries during the day at inflated prices. Elves’ Town and Orcs’ Town districts are well guarded and defended both during the day and at night. The Castle Tavern: Raffolk’s Wench The Siblings’ Dagger (Day 3-5) [META - Your character only gets the info if they speak the language] The tavern is still crowded, but less people are wounded. The castle is quite full at this point, but parties against the undead are becoming more successful. People are beginning to get more intel from the outside, but the sewers are becoming more dangerous. Human (in common): “Did you hear, it wasn’t the orc, or Oron or Breschka who took the old man down. This Tiefling Knight of Bahamut bashed his head in with a war hammer. Then some kind of large animal disembowel him. They say the half-demon has the power to command wolves and bears." Human (in common): “Streets are better during the day, but some new horrors have shown up; ghosts and such. Much of the city is still dangerous at night. There ain’t enough clerics in town to clean them up and all. Some say a couple of the darker temples and cults are only making it worse.” Eurik-Human (in Eurik): “Milady Joyce Orcshammer is in town with an Ogre and some orcs. They’ve been at the forefront of the attack, people say Behlya has ordered the Goleborn troops to follow her lead. Me thinks he fancies himself some non-green flesh if you know what I mean? But why the hell would he court she that made her name killing green-skins. Is he suicidal?” Human (in Draconic): “Who you think did this? Was it the kids, the dad, or the Dree? Had to be one of ‘em.” An elf (in elvish): “I got 35 with my longbow and the stumpy one with the battle axe only got 5 with his battleaxe.” Other elf laughing “Classic!” Orc (in Orcish): “We’re making em proud back home. We smashing them bonies real good. When ya think Behyla or Oron’s gonna let us gut some knife-ears and hairy-runts?” Orc (in Orcish): “Ain’t this fucked up? The half-orc is with the elves and the half-elf is leading us? The green beauty herself would roll over in her enemy's’ guts if she knew what kind of fucked up shit is going on. Maybe we would be better under Lightcrown’s rule.” *FIGHT BREAKS OUT* Dwarvish Nard (in Dwarvish): “Who fucking cares who did it. I doubt it was any of us. You think it was us? Nah, it couldn’t be any of us… was it?” Second Nard “Nah man, although I heard the deep dwarves and forged an alliance with the Dree. Maybe it was us. If so I hadn’t heard nothin.” A couple of sailors (in common): “The ships forming the blockade have mostly been taken out. No one knows I'd it was the undead or the kids.” A half elf and a gnome (in thieves’ cant): “Word on the street is, someone is buying those some weird undead talismans that showed up when the undead did.”
