It takes place in a singular universe where all the galaxies and this solar system (which was mostly abandoned for other solar systems in the other galaxies) is here, and is kept in "order" (think western law) by The Sheriff. Everyone is homsteading in this solar system and galaxy since it was abandoned when they found things worth staying for or going to, with a nod to the phrase, "Fences make good neighbors". It's also an excellent hideout for vagabonds and the like. Ruffians, thieves, invaders abound in the motley galaxy, and due to the increase of late, The Sheriff, is looking for a few, relatively good men (loose term), excellent bounty collectors really, to become his deputies. All the gods are real, currency comes in many forms, and no one has seen The Sheriff in decades, since the last war, where he defeated The Oppressors, and saved the people (The Dine). So you are all at The Space Bar, milling about. After you have settled your counts, you all decide to conduct some personal business, as most do, here. One by one, one of the exotic Fey maidens (hookers/servers) of the bar whispers into each of your ears that The Sheriff requests an audience. You are instantly intrigued, by one reason or another, and honored at such an opportunity to meet the mythical, not to mention mystical, Sheriff, who no one has really seen or met. The closes one gets to him these days are the game wardens, that act as the bank and primary law resources. That, and drinking, gambling, indulging in fine exotics, live or otherwise, at his place, The Space Bar, where he is the sole proprietor. The fey lead you behind the bar to a golden bird cage elevator which descends to the lower level, affording space only for the fey elevator operator and one other being. A dubious character thanks the fey, and asks her to finish fetching you one by one, seeing as the small cage only allows two creatures, regardless of size. Magic elevator only elevating to the strangeness of this encounter. Your weapons are checked by the dubious character, whose name placard (tag) reads "Chief". You then receive a token key and signals you to the door the lockers for you to place the rest of your belongings and locking it with the token key. He then opens a hidden door, each door opening in a different location in the wall for each character, and signals you to enter. There is no verbal communication from the Chief. The door then shuts immediately behind you. You have entered some sort of lower level bar with an ornate and obviously magical door at the back. This lower bar is less glitzy and themed, furnished by some fainting couches with beautiful fey maidens draped on some of them, a large round table surrounded by chair and a throne (the throne is pulsing almost a resonate glow that makes you shy from it). There are a few rounded open booths along the wall to the left of the entrance and to the right is a long bar with a mirror backing. Everything is illuminated faintly by fairy light. There is a calm fire place on each side of the ornate door. Once everyone has arrived the ornate door vanishes and the fireplaces are sent 10 ft backward and join together, revealing a rocking chair lightly moving in front of it with a shadowy character that is obscured by the fairy fire. One of the beautiful fey appears behind the bar and walks you to your seats at the round table with the other guests (the party members), some unknown, some rumored, some myths. The fey asks for your drink order and places it, announcing The Sheriff would take his seat (Throne) and join the table to talk once everyone was settled in. The last guest arrives, all drinks seemed to have magically been filled to the brim once more. As you look around you realize that all the fey that had been reclining on the couches have disappeared and the bartender is busying herself at the bar with her back turned, and a curtain of faint light en-capsules the bar, so as to block all sound and imagery from her. At this point, since you are all situated at the table, you begin to talk amongst yourself at the table, and introduce yourselves in an attempt to figure out what this is about. The fireplaces light brighter, warming the room to a comfortable glow. Slowly, the character from the rocking chair arises. You see the faint magical light emanating from his Sheriff badge glinting into his eyes through the darker mists that were previously enshrouding him. The room seems even more quiet, as if all the settling noises had been shushed by a god. He walks, really sauntering would be more fitting, boot heels and spurs clacking in this deafening silence, over to his throne at the table, which pulls itself out for him. He sits at the table and leans forward. It's obvious that it's Coyote, The Sheriff of this galaxy. He opens the discussions at the table, speaking smoothly and charmingly with an almost southern air of hospitality, "Gentleman, I am so pleased and gladdened you were able to join me this evening. As I am sure you have heard, I am looking for some deputies to become salaried and titled above Game Wardens (thus giving you the breadth of law). Alas, before I get ahead of myself, does anyone need a refill?" The curtain around the bar disappears as the bartender as immediately as his side pouring a dark liquid vial in his rocks glass, and looking up to see that the other glasses are being refilled with appropriate bottles that are acting on their own, ice swirling in some.Coyote The Sheriff grins almost wickedly, charm slicking off of him. So that's the beginning introduction to my campaign, you will all have to prove yourself in the first all party session. Then you will be outfitted as Deputies with items and titles and badges. From there, there will be excursions (sessions) that can accommodate all of the group, or just one of you (say you missed a session, or you just want to gain items or exp). You all also will have a stated goal in the group, and then a secret goal disclosed to me the DM. As DM I am playing a PC NPC, in the fact that I am fallible, but I do have final ruling and will be running the game as a DM. Coyote does have vices which you can find out from other NPCs if you're astute enough and from The Space Bar which will serves as meeting point and place of law and marketplace. Basically your home base. I am playing 5E. I do have a few a monsters that are not in the regular monster manual or Volvos but I do have a full character workup. I also have maps and art that will go along with each. This game allows you to be any type of character and to play as much or little as you like. It also allows other players to enter as fellow "deputized" players for a session, and once proven and if they so desire to really join the game, they can become a Deputy as well.
