Fifty years have passed since the event known as The Withering took place. A day when the world shifted into the bleak landscape of death and decay. No one knows what caused it but the effects of it were immediate. The sky is now perpetually black, even during the day. The suns are blood red orbs seeming to drip like blood, the droplets disappearing into the sky. At night the moons are much larger and brighter, their cycle now spanning the entire year. As the moons wane they slowly break apart, the remenants slowly drifting in the sky before fading into the ether. With the suns no longer casting their deadly rays, undead and evil beings that were once plagued by them can now roam free. In a massive power play, governments are over turned by the most powerful of these creatures. Now holding sway over their large domains they consolidate their power. Life for the citizens didn'tt change much, their average days going on as normal although they are taxed a little more heavily and deal with strange disappearances in their communities. Plants and creatures have also undergone drastic changes. Like the sky most have turned dark or sickly colours, wilting or withering away. Harmful attributes have become exacerbated, thorns turning to jagged dagger like protrusions, poisons becoming far more virulent. While plants and animals are still able to be eaten, they are not as fulfilling as they once were. While the people have had to adjust to the wicked ways of the world, from the appearance of new gods and the suppression of the old, to the new hirearchies, to dark creatures openly roaming the streets, hope still remains. Hidden deep in the shadows of towns and cities lies a group calling themselves the Resistance. An organization bent on setting things back to the way they were. They fight when and where they can, achieving small victories while they wait for the catalyst needed to change the tide of battle.
