Hi. Let me begin by saying that if you do not know how to play Burning Wheel, then that is fine, newcomers are absolutely welcome. I am currently looking for one additional player (there are currently three) for a game of Burning Wheel every Saturday from 6:30-10:30 MST. The first session is this upcoming weekend and this is intended for a long-standing game. There is a catch. Session 0 has already occurred, and due to a scheduling err, we are down a player. So there are already guidelines set up for the setting, themes, etc. I will not be listing everything here, only the major themes and expectations; if you are interested, bearing all things to be listed in mind, let me know and I shall get into contact with you about more precise details. To start with, if your schedule is not reliable, or you do not believe you can be punctual with your time, then this game is not a good match for you. Seek elsewhere. The setting will mean that your character shall be a human. This is not a comprising point, there is a reason for it; if you find this chafing, it's not changing. Sorry. Roleplay is very much the focus of this game. While concerning yourself with mechanics is absolutely acceptable, eschewing character depth for its sake is not. Burning Wheel should make this rule intuitive, but this is here for the sake of being explicit. With that said, combat is not the focus of this game.  Violence will be viewed as a last resort and there is not even an expectation that your character can fight! Your character won't be an action hero. Magic and Faith has a strange place in the setting, so coming in with expectations of playing a wizard or a "priest" (as in, the wordage for a Faith-user) is unwise. Or any fixed character concept, for that matter. There will need to be compromise. With that said, there is plenty of room for your creativity, the nature of this list may make that seem untrue, but you will be working within guidelines. The game will have a serious and dark tone. If that is not your cup of tea, this will not work. Possibly offensive themes will be present. They will be handled maturely, and their presence is not going to be on a spur of the moment. This should not be so severe of an issue (I say this because bringing up the subject makes it sound especially bad), but if you are concerned about the presence of such themes, please do make sure to inquire about them specifically. I do not want anyone walking in with a skewed expectation. Finally, the game will be using the Roll20 chat box system for communication during sessions... This means text is our format. Despite this fact, attentiveness is still an expectation. If you are worried about your spelling and/or grammar, do not be. As long as you are putting in an effort to do your best, then that is sufficient.
