Hello folks,
I'm in the process of setting on an old school 3rd edition Shadowrun
game. There will be minor houserules (which we can discuss), but by and
large it's the SR3 we all love.
This also means that I am looking for people familiar with the system.
It's very crunchy, and learning on the job from scratch is just not an
option. The adjustment from SR2 is probably doable, though, and I'm fine
with people needing to shake off some ringrust. It's probably been some
years for most of us.
Now, a caveat: I am planning to go more for an SR2 aesthetic. You
know what I mean: 1980s/90s cyberpunk, not the millennial stuff Catalyst
is forcefeeding us. This means that I will show a preference for older
gamers, who grew up with that kind of outlook available to them.
A second caveat: this is a text-only game. You can use voice amongst
yourselves if you want to, but I won't, so good skills in written
English are mandatory. It doesn't have to be your native tongue (it
isn't for me), but if it takes effort to puzzle out what you're saying,
you're probably not a good match. It is, however, NOT a pbp or pbm game: I
am aiming for a fixed timeslot to play, weekly. Commitment to about a
90% attendance is going to be important. Sure, life happens, but if it
happens too often, things fall apart. I prefer to stave off
eventualities like that in the first place. If you cannot make it, I
expect that to be announced in advance if possible at all, since it
probably means we'll need to cancel the session for that week. Times at which to play will be discussed with the people that seem a
good fit. I'm open to European evenings (American afternoons) as well as
American evenings, within certain constraints.
I'll be looking for a small group of players, picking quality over
quantity. If I find two people who can really rock the style I like, I'd
rather play with two than pick a third that doesn't jive. Having said
that, four is my upper limit. PS: a shoutout to anyone else playing on the Denver SR3 mush! http://denver.aelfhame.net/
