Hello there! If the title didn't make it obvious, I am looking for players experienced with the Cypher System for a homebrew campaign of The Strange. I need at least three players (If I get four, that's more fun for me). And if the title didn't make it obvious, this will be my first time GMing, so I'm excited to see where it goes. So what makes this a homebrew? Well, since Numenera and The Strange share the same system, I decided to include any exclusive cyphers, artifacts and foci from that game and now implementing them in specific ways. Certain foci in particular would be added to the different recursions that will be apart of this campaign and fit well with it. If I deem it necessary, some Numenera-exclusive foci will be made to be draggable in character creation if they are general enough to work in any recursion. You must have both the core book for The Strange AND Numenera. If you lack one or the other, it's harder on you and everyone else to play the game properly. Any supplement books are optional, but can give you more options if you see fit and need to be overlooked by me, the GM. Another homebrew element (at least I think it counts) is the fact that there will be recursions of my own creation, meaning they were created by me and only exist in places where I have posted them personally. Of course, you'll have to find out what they are by joining, if you're curious. ;) There are a LOT more homebrew elements I've implemented into this, so I won't go through all of them. But I will go over the most basic one: Secondary successes. Think of how successes are determined in Dungeon World. One type of success gets you what you want at the cost of something else. I'm taking that concept and translating it (See what I did there? =D) into this system accordingly. So, if you end up rolling just under the difficulty number (At a max of two), you will get a Secondary Success. Sounds simple right? Of course it is. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention this is a multiple recursions campaign? Just thought I'd make that clear so nobody has to ask it later. Now, something to keep in mind: This is an 18+ campaign. There will be lots of strong language, depictions of violence, gore and maybe some sexual content, among other things. I don't wish to get in trouble somehow for allowing underaged players to join on specific conditions, so I'll just limit myself to players who are 18+. Hope you understand. So now, let me give you a synopsis of the plot: You are all meant to be dead, for one reason or another. However, you survive at the expense of who you are and find yourself within The Estate's walls, not knowing what's going on or where you are. You are more or less blackmailed to join the Estate for one mission of the utmost cruelty. All you know is that this is your only chance to get your memories back. But as time passes, things will start flowing into motion that will reveal secrets that were better off buried... I purposely kept the plot fairly vague and open-ended to anything happening at any moment, thus opening up anyone who wants to make a character to be pretty much from any walk of life. Plus, I'm not that far into writing the plot, so maybe whoever joins this can pretty much help mold the story as it goes along. Now, let's get down to business. This campaign will, for what it's worth, have sessions every two weeks. If you've read the actual listing for this campaign, you'll know that the start date is set to April Fools Day. This is just a formality! The actual start date isn't set in stone, but it will definitely be two weeks after the point where I feel like I have enough players. Also, sessions will be done via voice chat in Skype most likely. However, if Skype doesn't work for you, Discord is the alternative. So, if you wish to be apart of this, send me a private message with your Skype name and/or Discord username. Do not post either as a response to this thread. I will add you as well as send the invite link to the game accordingly. And be sure to let me know you saw this thread to let me know you're interested. And....I think that's it. I hope I can make some new friends to play with from this. Oh yeah, there's a chance that one or two of my friends might join this game to help fill up this spot. If anything changes, I'll make it clear. Best of luck to those interested! =D P.S. If there's anything I'm missing that's required, so to speak, please let me know.
