[LFP][5e][Monday 7:30PM AEST][GMT+11] Looking for a player to join our existing campaign

Hey all, Looking for a player to join our campaign, just finished LMoP and moving on to my own content still set in the Realms. The party is made up of a druid, rogue, cleric/fighter, warlock, sorcerer thus far and they have all recently reached level 5.  Let me know a bit about yourself and a brief character idea!

What exactly is LMoP and how long do games usually last hour wise? I could make games easily depending on the length of the game. I could always be on time to play but may have to leave sessions near the end depending on the length if it is anything more than 4-5 hrs. I already have a base level 1 character written up for a Monk, but If it's set in the world of a specific module please let me know what classes and races are limited as the character i have is a wood elf monk and what level i would have to increase him up to. As a bit about myself I am 21 years old and work an incredibly odd work schedule. I usually stay up really late for i work night shifts. Your gaming time for me would be roughly 4:30AM on one of my days off and would be amazing for me to get into as I can stay up pretty late into my mornings before settling down for bed.

Hey Anthony, Lost Mines of Phandelver is the starter set module for D&D 5e. It's a fairly short module campaign-wise but we managed to stretch it out a fair bit! The group is currently set in the Forgotten Realms and I don't really have any restrictions other than it needs to come from official content (this includes the PHB, Volo's Guide, Sword Coast Adventurers Guide, any official Unearthed Arcana material from Wizards.) Have you played much before?
No I have not played in any campaign but I have watched Tons of Critical Role on the weekly D&D show on twitch. I understand this system very well as well as I also have read a lot through the Player's Handbook and also have the Monster's Manual, DMG, and Volo's if I ever need specific things to look up for a class. I find it rather cool you're allowing Unearthed Arcana. Would you allow the Newest Unearthed Arcana of the Mystic Class that just came out to be a playable class?
I would allow the mystic class from UA but would not recommend it to new players, it's mechanics are much more complex than most of the core classes, though it does seem very interesting.
I understand It's a very complex class and that's what appeals to me most. It has such great versatility and fun. If you do accept me into the game would I make my character at Lv 5 with the rest of the party or would i be underleveled for joining in late to the campaign?
Am I allowed in?
Hey Anthony, I like to have a chat with a few people before bringing in a new player straight away so will take a couple of days to think about it. In terms of the mystic - what kind of character concept do you have? Background, Race, bio etc. And yes you would be joining in at level 5 in line with the rest of the party. Cheers
I have multiple character concepts/combos in Mind with the Unearthed Arcana's For a Mystic Multiclass it would be Revised Range/Mystic/Rogue for a stealthy Soul Knife assassin type concept. Another one in mind is a heavy tankish brawler of Fighter/Warlock using some of the Invocations from the Unearthed Arcana. Another character completely written up I have is just straight Base PHB Monk. While I may be new having not played in a game yet. I have watched a weekly group stream their games and have a really good understanding of the mechanics of the system. Just let me know if there's any optional rules in place such as Encumbrance or Flanking or even some homebrewed options in place. I also have a character concept for a Mystic/Monk Multiclass but the Monk order i used for that concept is a Homebrewed rework of the Way of the Kensei from Unearthed Arcana so I don't think that would be an okay option since it's Homebrew.
Yeah I do try and stay away from homebrew as it can be hard to keep balanced. Similarly none of the UA content is balanced for multiclassing as is so I'd have to look over how that multiclass combo would work but it sounds badass! What background would you be looking at and what sort of backstory do you have in mind? If the multiclassing could be worked in RP-wise somehow that would A+ And I love critical role! Those guys do such a terrific job of playing their characters (although they are professional actors) and Matt Mercer is a God among mortals as far as DMing goes, real inspiration.

For the Fighter/Warlock I was gonna with the Urban Bounty Hunter Background from the Sword Coast's Adventurer Guide and for the Ranger/Mystic/Rogue He would use the Criminal Background for these two they are just build concepts and have no fleshed out backstories yet so there is wiggle room to make something fit the multiclass. My current Monk that I'd have to boost to 5 now is of the Outlander background and does in fact have a vague backstory but could use the DM's input on it to flesh out real locations and names for some of the stuff in his backstory. I have to change some things in it anyway since it was for another campaign that got completely cancelled before even starting. Also one thing I would ask ahead of time for you if you could take a quick look at the Mystic class. Would you allow the Lethal Strike Psionic ability of the Psionic Weapon Discipline to be used with the Soul Knife weapons of the Order of the Soul Knife Archtype of the  Mystic class. As the RAW is written it would be highly unlikely for the two to be used together but ultimately is left to DM discretion like all the other vague things of 5E lol.
If you want specifics of the UA build concepts For a Full level 20 build of each it would go Ranger Lv3 Mystic Lv 9 and Rogue Lv8 and for the Fighter/Warlock would go Fighter 2/Warlock 18
First I'd like to give you a bit of a background on myself, then introduce the character I would be interested in playing. Name: Ash Age: 31 Gender: Male Availability: Most days and evenings, I run a game on Saturday Afternoons (Homebrew 5e) and play a game of Space Without Borders on Monday morning, but even so though times are flexible. My experience is both as of a DM and player, my knowledge base is Pathfinder into 5e, as well as other systems like SWB, and Dark Heresy. Preferences: I much prefer to roleplay rather than min-max, or try to PvP kill (or steal) from party members Pick me, Why?: I love immersing myself in fantasy, I love pulling everyone around me deep down the rabbit hole, I'm an easy-going guy who is always willing to help, never take things seriously, but most importantly have FUN! Onto the Important (and fun) stuff. Let me introduce to you Rolen, the Elven Monk Name: Rolen (a name he has given himself) Gender: Male Class: Monk Alignment: LN Backstory: Rolen, as there were some illegitimacy concerns was abandoned by his family at a very young age, hunting the streets for ways to stay alive, he did not fall prey to the street life and thuggery as many have done before him. Instead he searched for purpose, meaning for his existence - Learning his city, the alleys, the high tops.. Often getting lost in thought with a whittle and idle piece of wood in hand, searching.. Always searching. One day he found himself, seemingly lost in a city he had known for years, so approached the nearest temple to ask for directions (albeit reluctantly), but once he pushed through the entrance-way, he was awed, by the craftsmanship, the gears, the smells of hard work. He knew he had found his home. Ever since, he had trained, honed his body, mind and wood carving. For the day his God; Gond, who had shown him the path of peace and purpose called for his aid. Let me know if this suits what you had in mind - I can work with you to scale it up to an evenish level (or even just behind)
Long time no talk. How're things going for the campaign?
