The first thing I noticed when toying around with the FOW-Feature is, that I am missing a free form function. For rectangle dungeons or wilderness, the area function works fine, but as soon you deal with something like a natural cave system, the area function becomes a pain in the butt.
yes please. I'd like to freeform my reveal/hide shapes
Noted. Thanks for the input.
I would like this as well, but the math for this without proper set operations can be a bit heavy for a browser.

Since some/many games have a function where a character can see a certain distance (e.g. low-light vision allowing 30 feet of vision), perhaps a tool set that allows for a stamp-style FOW reveal? So if a character moves to a spot, i can pick the "Reveal-30 ft circle" option and click it over the character's Token, revealing that area in one accurate move. Especially with the grid system, this would make for much smoother FOW management
That is a cool idea, John, but I rarely want to reveal a 30' circle entirely, myself. Usually something is behind a door or around a corner from the viewer, within that distance. I would get much more mileage out of being able to freehand an area.

I agree that Freehand is essential, I just like the idea of having a few size/shape selections available as well. Partly because I'm not terribly coordinated with a mouse, and my free-form attempts are sometimes disastrous. Much like the tools that many grid-based games offer (templates at the backs of books that detail what a 20 foot cone is and what a 30 foot radius looks like on a grid), such a tool might be useful for other functions in the Roll20 platform as well.
Real freeform would be quite heavy on the system. Closed polygon is good compromise, I'd say.
