Transparency color?

So newbie question here, how does roll20 handle transparency for art assets? I'm making .png's in paint, but the transparency white that paint uses clearly isn't working for the site >_<
When applied correctly, the transparency on a .png file does show up correctly (as in clear). I wasn't aware that MS Paint supported true transparency, just the "transparent background" when copying images on top of one another - it has been many years since I've used MS Paint for things however. I would recommend using a better image editor such as Paint.net which is free.

Paint.net or GIMP is the most commonly used free 3rd party software recoomended or used for most artwork (so I noticed).

Pretty sure MsPaint doesn't handle transparency. Your better off with trying out the programs Metroknight mentioned.
K, thanks everyone, cheers ^_^

I think pixlr.com is a pretty great in-browser alternative if you don't have access to Photoshop.

Another voice to confirm: While MS Paint supports the PNG and GIF file formats, it does not support transparency.

Another vote here for Pixlr Editor, along with its Chrome extension Pixlr Grabber. That combination means that you can open images in the editor directly from the web (right click on any image and open in Pixlr), or crop your screen directly into the editor. Cuts out the step of downloading and then reopening an image. While Pixlr lacks some functionality, it does have layers and a reasonable range of filters and effects. The main thing that I do miss is that you can currently only left-justify text - no centring or right justification. But for most of what I need to do with images quickly for Roll20, it's fine.
