The party is currently exploring a dark abandoned manor. It's day on the outside, and light shines through the windows and any opened doorways - but outside of that, within the manor it's completely dark. My attempts at making this work have all gone for naught. With global illumination on, there seems to be no way to obstruct the light and make rooms where the global illumination doesn't reach yet torches and darkvision can: if the former can't, then neither can the latter. With global illumination off, the exterior of course becomes pitch-black as well: the best I've managed is to put down artificial suns all around the manor to simulate daylight and reach a bit through the windows as well, but this is a hassle, looks dumb, and at the end of the day doesn't work that well. Is there some trick to this that I'm missing?
