c02s03e05 -- The Pursuit of Liberty Midday 63 (its stopped raining) The team joins the houndsman and archons in the northern gate tower.. the Draegoth resistance crumbles with minimum risk of death to the heroes and they leave the front gate in the hands of the collected Stryfe soldiers to keep under guard. During the siege, ships from Aundair and Breland fly in from the northwest into the main temple structure where the diplomats were staying as guests... The houndsman says that both Aundair and Breland envoys were fighting against Draegoth forces as feverishly as the athasians are... but the Karrnath envoy was no where to be found... that's when the hound got flanked by mindbenders and had to teleport away with the surviving archons... so fighting must be happening inside the temple as well as at the walls. After a few hours of everyone gathering, the insurgent militia is assembled in the main market... 4800 total athasian troops under team's banner. - 1500 from Stryfe keep - 3300 from within Bodak itself This is not including feral kids running around as well.. but it does include non-geased citizens that are simply unahppy with Draegoth's control over the supposedly "free city". the army is broken into units of 300 each (5 from stryfe, 11 of bodak) The temple is the only point of resistance... Frank has the idea to send Houndsman and the archons in to soften it up while the team gets the troops in motion. Rogar takes a solo gunman fieldtrip to go snipe at wall turrets... alone he's confronted by a robed mindbender that exchanges a few rounds of combat before Rogar binds the toughie with entangling arrow magic and runs. psychic damage pings the bowman a few rounds until Rogr can get enough distance to lose the unseen threat.. but tht is the most disconcerting part.. no visible targets tagging him for psy dmage ech round can get out of control if the threat isn't isolated. the houndsman returns torn up with only 5 archons remaining... the psy damage the athasians produce is a threat to angels as well as khorvairan humans... taking a heal, the houndsman hangs back now to help with troop movement. He has his report from within the temple though.. Splitting the forces into 3rds.. one at the main temple gate, and 2 flanking teams. Houndsman and archons take the north corner stryfe commanders oversee the main gate The team leads to attack on the south corner. using the team's ships to knock down siege defenses... modest damage on the Marian yacht and the crab carrier before the balistas are silenced. The ships shift north to aid the north corner then the main gate as the team starts hollowing out the south towers to soften the militia's siege efforts. At some point Dhraksis gets heart-squeezed by a Draegoth templar and takes some fatigue before the team finishes up their sweep. Next the heroes can push into the main temple compound and lock the city down. about 300 allies have been killed vs 900 Draegoth loyalists caught outside the main temple... though the loyalists were mostly not draegoth templars.. they are in the temple structure... <<end of session>> afternoon day 63 1/3 to level 11 Loot Acquired 4800 total athasian troops under team's banner. - 1500 from Stryfe keep - 3300 from within Bodak itself Loot expended - 300 athasian troops
