SETTING BACKGROUND Chaos reigns in Havre. The death of the 'People's King' without an heir has heralded a time of strife in the proud city. The Noblariate appointed Steward flounders as he seeks to keep the city from total anarchy in the name of a headless Crown. Factions form around allegiances and each vie for supremacy over the others in hopes of gaining the foothold necessary to gain them the crown of Havre. Foreign kings bankroll sympathetic agents while local nobles exert their influences over the levers if the military and economy. Havre is the only city known to have survived the War of the Ancients. Perhaps it was because of the monstrous walls that surround it that are reputed to heal damage done by besieging armies, or perhaps it is because of the shear number of people that can dwell within it's walls. But whatever the reason, Havre is a prized jewel whose secrets are second only to its wonders.... _____________________________________ I am running a homebrew campaign, and are currently starting a new adventure arc and we need a a couple of committed and innovative players. The idea is to start in the city described above and then use it as a launch pad to the setting as a whole. We are using a 20 point buy. The allowable books are the PG, APG, Ultimate Combat, Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Equipment, and the Mythic Handbook (though no one will be starting with anything from the Mythic Handbook until tiers are first awarded). The allowable races are Human (there are 5 human subraces), Elf and Dwarf. Characters would be starting at level one to help players acclimate to the setting, with an eye on rapid advancement if warranted. The new adventure arc I am setting up is part of a much larger storyline that is currently underway. I have known for some time that I needed to phase in new players, but my prior attempt was hampered by the fact that the existing characters were sitting at level 8 and the new players were coming into it with absolutely no knowledge of the world...it was daunting for them. So I decided to start this new adventure arc with an eye at a bite-sized integration into the campaign as a whole where I am planning to have a mix of adventures; city, exploration and dungeon. The idea would be for a party to start low, work up to about 5th level or so and give the players a chance to interact and get the lay of the land, and then integrate the PC's into the larger storyline by fast-tracking their levels so that they are equivalent with the others. We generally meet on Sundays at 1800 MST and run 4 or 5 hours. We do have a bit of flexibility with regards to start time.
