[LFG] Shadowrun 5e beginner

To anyone interested in Shadowrun,   Perhaps you can help. I'd like to start playing Shadowrun 5e but can't find a group. I'm looking to join a group who wouldn't mind a new player, or even start a group for regular play. If you're also new that's perfectly fine. I'd even be willing to be the GM although it might be a little awkward at first. I know most of the rules so it shouldn't be too painful. We can figure it out together and maybe even throw in some house rules everyone can agree on. I'm pretty open. I have the 5e Core rulebook (pdf), the Run & Gun rulebook (pdf), and my character (human combat/decker). Honestly, I'm not the biggest role player as far as doing voices and stuff, but I certainly don't mind when others get really into it. I do prefer more combat heavy campaigns, although I love pretty much anything to do with Shadowrun so good story and character development is a plus. No offense to the Reddit /hub, but I'd rather just find a group here if possible and not have to submit everything for review and post it. Maybe later.   I'm in the Pacific time zone or UTC -8, but I have no schedule so I can work around yours. I'd hope females would feel welcome, but it should probably be an 18+ group for language. I don't have a camera but we can do voice on Skype or whatever. (Sorry, no text only.)  Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks
If I may make a suggestion?  You might want to list your time zone, it will be easier for people to coordinate.
I'll add my name into the hat.  RunnerHub seems great, but SR is pretty complex to just jump in and either sink or swim.  I'd love to get my feet wet with a game as well, so if you find one, I'd love to be considered.  I've got a RL friend on here that is interested as well.
Well, if you two aren't busy around 6pm EST this evening (3pm PST, 10pm GMT), and don't mind using Discord, I can send you an invite and we can set something up.  I've played Shadowrun since 1989, and have run many campaigns over the years.  Willing to set things up for newbies.
I would love that, but I have family coming in tonight and will be here through Sunday.  I'll PM you though so we can connect after this weekend.  Thanks!

Good luck the game is quite difficult to run for numerous reasons. 1. Players usually don't know the game well enough to not gimp their character or operate complex character generators. 2. Lots of expectation and baggage.  I had one player who kept referencing "youtube", "google", and other stuff and honestly it drove me crazy.  This isn't 2017 USA, anyway there's a huge gap in knowledge and players not investing any time knowing the game or the setting. 3. The time consumption of anyone willing to run it is pretty on the extreme side compared to a lot of other games.  Due to the complex rules set. 4. Requires a Mission Impossible/Jason Borne/James Bond mindset that I've never seen anyone able to come to terms with.  (I suggest doing a street campaign to make up for it). It's not worth it.  Total life drain for the average working joe GM.  Hence any games are already running with a group and newbie friendly ones are near impossible to find. I had one player who didn't understand how fire sprinklers work, a modern technology, so half the time the session becomes let me teach you what you didn't learn in school.

Well, your experiences have been greatly different than mine. 1) This isn't an issue if the GM is newbie friendly, which the OP is asking for. 2) If Ford is still around in 2075, what is wrong with Google and YouTube still existing?  It's easy enough to educate the players in the game's background though. 3) It may be crunchy, but it's hardly 'too time consuming'.  No worse than D&D.  Better than Exalted and its charm system. 4) You have plenty of 'mindset' options though.  How are the ones you listed harder to get into than, say, the typical murderhobo fantasy game party? I'll run it.  It's worth it to me.

Sorry all, my niece came to visit so I was afk for most of the day. I'm definitely down to get a run together though. I can see what Volomon is saying for the most part. I feel like the main character of Shadowrun is the setting, and if you come in knowing absolutely nothing about the setting it would be hard to know what's going on. I've played the SNES and PC games, just not the tabletop. I'm pretty familiar with most of the slang and basic history so I'm not a complete newb. Personally, I like all the crunch too, so no problem there. Also, 5e seems way more streamlined than 3e. I at least know the basic formula of getting contacted for a job, planning the job, running the job, then getting paid. I know "Mr. Johnson", the Megacorps, the "trid", the Matrix, "Ice" (IC) and plenty of other terms. I'm more familiar with the technology side of Shadowrun, but I like that the magic side is there too for people who prefer a bit more fantasy over sci-fi. Keep hitting me up and I'm sure we'll get something going. Thanks
Im interested if I can make the day and time.  Not a noob to SR played a few campaigns.  Just let me know if youll have me.
I got a group who'd be interested. We can provide 4-5 players. We've played for a few months, but we really hacked the rules together, but we're familiar with the setting and style.
