Removing Tokens from PDF Maps

Hi there! I'm new to Roll 20 and it seems like a great system, really impressed. I do have one issue/question though. I wanted to set up a campaign using one of D&D's published campaign setting PDF's, however everything on the maps are marked. Any tips/suggestions on how to remove the marks, like monster placement, traps, etc? I tried to use the eydroper tool in GIMP and paint over it, however that still leaves the spots pretty obvious. Thanks!

How complex are the maps? I'd probably just recreate them, myself--that way they are scaled appropriately for Roll20.
For some of the more popular adventures a good google search might turn up maps made by fans of that adventure that have the work done for you already. The other trick I use is if it makes sense for the room just drop a statue, rug, broken jug, or something else from the roll20 art library on the the location and just put it on the map layer.

Rather than the eyedropper tool you might want to try using the clone tool (it looks like a rubber stamp). Select a brush with a soft edge.
Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll go ahead and try some of these with the map I'm putting together. Thanks again

G V., could you explain what you mean by "scaled appropriately for Roll20"? (Im curious if you are referencing pixels per grid square or if you are referencing difficulties in getting the grids to align.)

Pixels per grid square with no distortion of the image. As I understand it, Roll20 uses a 70px grid and most maps that I've seen in PDFs aren't scaled that way. I could be wrong, though.

Most PDFs use shrunken down map images with poor resolution that are not intended to be used as digital map images. When you use them as digital maps they pixelate a lot. However, most of them can be aligned to the Roll20 grid without distortion (unless by distortion you meant pixelation).

I did mean pixelation. :)
