Gnolls attack the camp! An arrow thuds into Geoff's chest and he falls to the ground. The party instinctively forms a line between the attacking monsters and Miriam, unconscious in the bed of a wagon, the dwarf Kovacks standing above her. Two Gnolls rush in along with a Giant Hyena! Arrows pepper the party from a pair of hunters in the back. Tronc wildshapes into a Dire Wolf and tears into the hyena. The two great beasts savage each other trading bite for bite! Jean wades into the fray with his wolf Ouzel at his side. He trades ineffectual blows with the gnoll for a bit before the creature savages Ouzel forcing the wolf out of the fight. Kovacks jumps into the fight, aiding Jean in his fight with the gnoll, whom the manage to dispatch after some back and forth. Eira hangs back, opting to use Produce Flame to attack the hyena from afar. She eventually shifts to Flaming Sphere and (regardless of the brush fires she starts in the grass) she uses it to great effect against the gnolls and the hyena. The hunters in the back began to target her, forcing her to maneuver for cover and use the Flaming sphere on them. The caravan guards drop one by one as do the gnolls. The giant hyena is absorbing huge amounts of damage and though the gnoll hunters could flee, they seem afraid to do so. Finally the hyena dies and Tronc charges one of the hunters. He takes a spear in the side and, wildshapes into a large white bear to recover from his wounds. The hunters begin to run. Tronc mauls the one nearest him, reducing him to bits of meat. Kovacks smashes the one he chased down with his flails, with essentially the same result. The party survives.... Geoff is alive but barely. Eira rushes to heal him while her companions douse the grassfires she has started. After binding his wounds she looks into the wagon and sees Miriam is gone! Ouzel who was nearby is unconscious. Jean inspects him but finds no wounds apart from what he suffered in the fight. Searching the area he sees no sign of Miriam being removed or leaving on her own, but the field is muddied by battle and coverd with ashes and embers from the fires. The party rests until morning light. In the daylight things seem no better. The gnolls path is easy to follow and they opt to do that before heading into Silver City which is within 1-2 days ride and the closest settlement. Miriam and her captor if she has one would likely have to pass through there. They find a cave that is dark and smells of rot. Exploring they find the remainder of a Gnoll warparty. All of them slaughtered. The Flynd who would have led them through might and cruelty lay in the center of the cave, mutilated and with his skull torn open and his brain missing.... Seether instigated the attack on the party and Miriam's abduction! Seether left the gnolls treasure intact and the party takes that as some compensation as they limp into Silver City alive but unsure of their next steps.
