Select tokens on map, auto number status icons

I know the concept of auto numbering tokens has been talked about before and I've also tried AAron's API script for auto-numbering token names (which is an awesome script). However, in our games, my players and I don't like being able to see the monsters name plate. What I do for numbering is select a token and then choose one of the coloured status icons and number it. I repeat this for each token so that each one has a unique number. The player can then say something like "I attack blue 1" or "I cast a spell on red 2". Is there anything available that I could select all tokens at once and it would auto set the tokens status icon to a colour and a unique number?

I think the token name number script can do that.

Yeah. It can use colored dots, but it doesn't put numbers on the dots however. It does use multiple colors to identify them so you can have a way to id plenty of tokens from each other.
