I'm a player helping our ZM find additional players. Campaign Details This is a zombie survival adventure for players looking for a weekly game. We're open to brand-new players, new-ish players, and old-hats too. 4-6 Players is ideal. Story It's an ordinary day in rural Illinois. Jack has just returned home from his first deployment and things seem to have returned to normal. Sure, the rest of the country might be going to hell if we believe the news of all the rioting and violence in cities like LA and New York, but everything is just fine here. That is, until the undead hoards start their march... GM Note: So far the campaign is planned to lead you on a road trip to Cincinnati (after the initial attack on your hometown), but you're welcome to (try to) stay, or go somewhere else if you want. Characters The campaign (or at least the start of the campaign) will center around Jack and his family: * Jack: the soldier who just returned home * Jack's dad: the town's sheriff * Jack's brother: the family fuck up Some other ideas: * ex girlfriend * close neighbor * a family friend You're welcome to come up with a new concept, as long as there's something that can tie them to the family. I'll be hosting a character building session on Friday (@5:00pm US Pacific Time; 8:00pm Eastern) to hash out character sheets and discuss possible plot hooks. Stats If you are new to AFMBE, don't worry about this section. We can go over it on Friday/Saturday. For those of you that aren't: we'll be using Norm+ characters: * 16 Attributes * 30 Skills * 10 Qualities * Up to 10 drawbacks * Based on your character backgrounds, drawbacks may be increased to -15 (giving you 5 CP to spend in other areas) We will not be using Inspired characters (in the future we may introduce a light version of Inspired). GMing Style I tend to prefer RP and character/story building over hack-and-slash. There will definitely be combat, but expect less number-punching and more action/reaction. Along those lines, I also prefer player dynamics over strict rules. I see the rulebook as a guideline and toolbox - not absolute law. I'm liberal with rule exceptions and modifications as long as they aid the story and aren't over-the-top. No playing lawyer with the rulebook. Regarding combat: I don't typically use tactical maps (with board tokens and grids). Occasionally I'll provide a picture or a map of the area to flesh out the scene, and sometimes I provide strategic maps (of a city, town, or surrounding area). In rare cases you might even witness a hand-drawn map or diagram (caution: may cause nausea). Lastly, I try to build an open world to some degree. If the group decides you want to take over a city or build a safe haven I won't stop you. Plot hooks are suggestions; I won't be offended if you ignore them. Schedule I'm looking to start a weekly game for Saturday evening/nights. I'm on US pacific time right now, and will be switching to mountain-time in the fall (at that time I'll probably ask to move the game forward by half an hour, but we can discuss that in November). As long as we have 3+ players, we will be starting on Saturday May 6. If you decide to join, please try to be available every week. It's fine to miss occasional games, but if regular disappearance acts are your thing we might have to write you out. Nothing kills a game faster than unpredictable cast availability. Fair Warning While this campaign doesn't contain any explicit sexual content, it may contain some explicit themes along the lines of racism, drugs, and other uncanny behavior along with some swearing (maybe a lot). I hope that won't be an issue, but it was suggested to me that I mention it. Applications If you're interested in joining, please make a new post below with: * A little bit about yourself * The character you're interested in playing (or if you prefer to make your own) * Does 5:00 PDT on Saturdays work for you? * Are you interested/available for the character building session on Friday (May 5) at 5:00 PDT? * Would you be interested if it were at another time/day?
