The wall flashes with all colors of the visible spectrum. Airen can pass through the wall without harm. Any creature with fewer than 8 Hit Dice that is within 20 feet of the wall and does not shield its vision is blinded by the colors. Court Party 2017 The Palace of the King & Queen Of Hearts in Dungeonland Attendance: Torhild the dwarf PC reincarnated as an Ogre Mage polymorphed into Nell disguised as a Cheshire Cat. Jack of Hearts - that knave with the Laffitte garb, carrying a chicken / bomb, who stole some of the golden magic tarts. King of Hearts - the one who Suggested that the party attend the M.H. tea party to get magic items. Queen of Hearts "Off with their heads!" she has a large magic battle axe (pictured). The Mad Hatter -- even though you killed him in the future, he is alive in this scene after Airen drew the card that reversed time temporarily. Mach Hare with Gnome Spear Rider -- as above, back to life from the Mad Hatter tea party. Doormouse -- as above, back to life from the Mad Hatter tea party. Cheshire Cat -- partially ethereal and there seem to at least 7 of them around. Guy with sunglasses wearing a pink bunny rabbit onesie suit carrying a candy cane -- seems legit. Porcupine missing a lot of its quills. The Joker -- The Executioner. The Duchess  -- very powerful magic spellcaster and some kind of boss-monster type. The Cook -- same species as The Duchess, very formidable and chaotic. The Baby -- usually found with The Duchess and The Cook. Card Suit Troops -- at least 18 guards. Events: The party spied on the party attendees filtering in, arriving by the grass road one by one. Jacob (cleric believing himself to be a Ranger class) snared a lone Ace Of Hearts card suit trooper and the party interrogated Ace. Torhild polymorphed into the form of Nell. Then she disguised herself in a Cheshire Cat costume. At times she sipped on a potion of Etherealness. She got past the guards and entered The Palace of Hearts. She entered the Court Party and was surrounded by the personnel listed above. Next Torhild snuck onto the dais and started to steal some valuable golden magic tarts. She stole several successfully but was caught red-handed on the 7th tart.  Charges of Stealing were recited by a Herald card troop. Jack Of Hearts that knave prosecuted Torhild, laying blame and highlighting evidence against her (possession of several golden magic tarts) while claiming himself to be as pure as driven snow. The Queen of Hearts screamed "Off with her head!" The Duchess echoed "Off with her head!" The Joker the executioner closed in. Many others menaced Torhild from nearby. Jack Of Hearts that knave picked up the rest of the spilled golden magic tarts and fled. Torhild pursued. Jack Of Hearts that knave ran down a hallway to a fork leading 2 directions where he used Deck Of Illusions to cause Torhild to perceive 2 Jacks running 2 different directions and she had to choose. Torhild chose a hallway that led her into a trap where she fell down a long descent and landed in a different size in a different part of the dungeonland demi-plane. She landed in a long hallway with a pond. She flew across and entered a brass door. Beyond the brass door she found a hedge garden and a giant mushroom forest. She lost the trail of the Jack Of Hearts that knave. The party without Torhild --- knowing that The Dutchess and The Baby and The Cook are away at the Court Party in The Palace --- looted The Duchess basement vault, obtaining many valuable magic items and gold pieces, after passing numerous Symbol:Death traps and Doublets word puzzles to unlock the treasure. Sebastian was rescued and revived from a cryogenic ice chamber trap in the Duchess basement.
Watching and waiting. Fuku leant against the wall as she watched the street, she had managed to get herself placed in the “yellow jackets” that patrolled the streets of the Korean district. She watched the people going about their lives and wondered who else was planning revenge today. Her eyes came to rest on a minor noble’s house, she knew it and the grounds well. The gates where open and there were no guards. This was not a very powerful house and so attracted no feuds from rival houses. Fuku rubbed the two growths on the top of her forehead, the horns felt strange against her fingertips. The horns were recent addition to her, since dying and awakening as an Oni. She had noticed that her baby daughter had small horn nubs growing too. She knew little to nothing about Oni and had not yet tried to contact the local Oni community. She spent her day patrolling the streets and keeping an eye on that house, she started to learn the movements of the Lord and Lady. How the servants worked and when the few guards they had changed shifts. Fuku leaned over the cradle and the sleeping form of her daughter, she smiled as she stroked the infant’s wispy hair. Her daughter was fast sleep and would not wake until first light, Fuku wondered if that was a trait of Oni babies. She leaned down and placed a kiss on the child’s cheek. “Sleep well my little star, Mummy has some work to do” Fuku rose from her daughter and gently blew out the candle, casting the room into darkness. “I’ll be home soon my dear, tonight your Father has to die.” She walked out of the infants room and into the street, she felt a cool calm descending over her as she made her way to the Lord’s home.

A change of heart and plane Torhild looked at herself reflected in the fountains water, the face of a pixie jester looked back at her. Gone were the usually cruel smile and the dark spark in her eyes. She felt changed, whatever that plant creature had done to her the evil that had nestled itself in her soul was gone. She had actively tried to get the company into trouble before, knocking loudly on the duchess’s door and causing them to engage the never ending Slad hordes. The evil in her heart had compelled her to do that and now she was left with a sense of balance. She would never again endanger the party for her own amusement, she was now truly neutral. This was in itself a weird state of affairs, she could no longer awaken in a new form. The Ogre was evil and the thief was chaotic, those aspects of her soul where gone. She would remain the trickster pixie, she had noticed there was another of her people in the party but he tended to keep to himself and had a fascination with collecting body parts. She had no strong opinion about this, or indeed anything as she walked the middle line of all moral thoughts. She buzzed her wings as she thought about this, she was compared to the other members of the party fairly weak. Her skills were in reading and entertaining, she could distract and enemy or read off a scroll with ease but in combat she was lacking. She needed some kind of weapon, something that she could dart in and out of combat with. A rapier perhaps? Also she desperately needed a magic item to improve her charisma, with that she could talk her way past anything or counter song anyone. She was a rich young woman these days, her loot value was well into the thousands of gold mark. She would seek these items out as fast as she could. She reached into her poket and carefully took out the 8 inch high priest Jacob that she had shoved in there. “Well now, I don’t think I have ever picked a man up before. Usually it’s the other way around hmm?” She grinned and took to the air holding Jacob in front of her, zipping through the maze to catch up with Arien and the others. (I will be posting Fuku vs the father of her child, I warn you all it's long going and has been 2 weeks in the writing and editing. So might need a cup of coffee and a comfortable place to read it lol)
(Im going to release these in small chunks over time as after reviewing what I wrote it would be a massive post!)                                                                                              The Lady of the house Fuku walked calmly into the Lord’s grounds, she did not have her armour and wore only a peasant’s garb. As she closed on the main gate the two yellow jacket guards stepped out to block her way. She moved without a word breaking into a silent run, the guards readied their spears and she pirouetted on her toes avoiding the men’s weapons to spin inside their guard. With a sure strike she drove a dagger into each of the men, one took the blade through his neck the other a chest strike bisecting his heart, and they slid soundlessly to the ground. Fuku slipped past the gate and pulled down her Oni mask, it depicted a drowning girl. Moving through the grounds garden she kept to the shadows, she was not thief trained but the night was dark and she had chosen this particular night on purpose. The moon was in its new phase and gave little to no light at all, unless someone looked directly at her she could move freely. Fuku waited under one of the large willow trees in this garden, by this time her hireling water bender should be starting his work. The air became colder and she felt the hairs on her neck prickle as the atmosphere shifted. The willow’s long supple branches rustled as the rain started to fall, the drops bouncing off leaves to land around Fuku’s feet. She stepped out into the rain and let it soak her, the water was cold and the colours on her mask started to run, her long hair usually tied back was loose and it too become sodden. The peasants garb did little to keep her dry and was soon wet through, she smiled grimly as she imagined what she must look like. She slipped up to the main house and saw that one of the bedroom lights was on, she could not see any movement inside. Reaching into her clothing she took out a crossbow and sighted it at the window ledge. The crossbow was loaded with a unique and very expensive bolt, it had cost her four months of wages to get alone but it would be worth it. Fuku fired the bolt at the window ledge and it hit true, digging into the ledge. Fuku closed her eyes and said the words she had been instructed. “Varitus mex, alvar caran!” She could not feel the spell cast as it was contained within the bolt, the bolt glowed warmly for a moment and then when dark. Fuku waited in the rain in silence. Minutes past and nothing happened, she chewed her lip and considered. To assault the house through the front door or even the servant’s entrance would be risky, she would meet a lot of resistance and her targets would be alerted to her presence. A soft dull pattering sounded into the night as she considered what to do next, she was resolved to die here tonight but not to some guard’s blade. The rain intensified and the pattering grew louder, she frowned and sought the source of the noise. In front of her she could see rain falling and then hitting an unseen surface, the drops exploding in tiny splashes, squinting in the darkness she could see the drops where marking out a staircase that led from the ground and up to the window and her bolt. The spell had worked, she complete ignorance of magic had blinded her to its activation. Stepping onto the stairs she made her way up to the window, the higher she got the more unsteady her legs felt. Closing on the window she peered into the room, it was a modestly furnished bedroom. The bed was freshly made and looked undisturbed, this was not surprising the Lord and Lady of the house seldom slept in their room. Pushing the window up she slipped into the room, the water from her clothing making a soft pattering noise on the wooden floor. She slipped over to the door and listened, there was the sound of a man speaking though she could not make out what was being said. With a gentle push she opened the door and stepped out into the hallway, it was dimly lit with tourches and shadows seemed to dance across its walls. Fuku always remembered the house was well lit at all times, strange that it should be so dark now. She crept down the hallway and came to a stop outside the Lord’s study, taking a breath to steady herself she placed her hand against the door and pushed. It gave way and opened into the room, Fuku stepped into the room reaching for her weapon. The room was bathed in a dull red light the walls seemed to seethe and move as though some kind of substance ran over them. The wooden floor was cracked and in a state of disrepair but the most disturbing feature was the table. Where once she remembered a fine oak polished table stood was a table of a different sort. The legs were constructed of humanoid leg bones that had been worked into ornate patterns, the table top itself was fashioned out of human skin that had been pulled taught over countless ribcages. Fuku looked around in horror and saw corpses adoring the walls hung as a hunter would display trophy kills. She reached to her mask and pulled it up to her forehead wanting to rub her eyes, was this some kind of illusion? “Well it seems I am not the only person to return from the dead” The large backed chair behind the desk of bones spun around, it was also constructed of body parts. The voice had a haughty tone and she recognised it immediately. “Don’t you know it’s rude not to bow in the presence of your betters?” The Lady of the house said, she smiled as she spoke her pale lips drawing back to reveal a set of long fangs. “What is this?” Fuku said in disbelief. “This is the truth you stupid little girl” The Lady rose to her feet in a fluid motion, her skin was pale and white as chalk. Fuku faltered and took a step back and bumped into something hard, she spun her hand reaching for her weapon. The door behind her had closed the normally wooden surface was adorned with skulls from many races. “When I kill something I expect it to stay dead, you are a rude girl Fuku” She lady flexed her fingers like talons and Fuku could see she had wicked looking long nails. “I am going to shred you like ribbon, drowned girl” The lady started to move around the bone table and Fuku pulled her mask down. “That is not going to help you, becoming an Oni is not going to change your fate.” The Lady ran her pale tongue across her lips. “When I am done with you I shall seek out that bastard child” the Lady made a sweeping motion across her own throat. “And hang her corpse on my wall!” She started to laugh, a horrible sickening laugh of depravity. Fuku clenched her teeth so hard she heard a crack and broke into a charge, raising her weapon to strike this monster down. Continued in next post. (The lady of the house!)
Fuku brought her blade down in a vertical cut attempting to strike the lady from neck to groin, the creature twisted her body to rotate as she stepped forward like a ballet dancer stepping into Fuku’s guard. The Lady laughed as she raked her nails down fuku’s sword arm, drawing bloody trails, fuku countered with a quick waist high slash but the blade did not meet its mark. The lady cartwheeling backwards into a hand spring, she landed on the bone desk soundlessly her eyes wide with excitement. “You will never cut me with that!” The lady sneered spreading her fingers as she settled into a crouch, preparing to spring. Fuku took a step backwards and stumbled, as she staggered backwards she loosened the grip on her blade and took her eyes off her opponent. The lady sprang from the desk and crossed the space between them in a few moments her arms spread and nails out seeking flesh. Fuku fell backwards onto the floor, she slipped into an awkward squat and braced the hilt of her weapon against her thigh shifting its angle to intercept the Lady vampire. The lady landed on fuku the blade slicing up through her expensive looking dress, the sound of tearing silk filling the air. Snapping her free hand out Fuku grabbed the vampires throat and pushed away from her, trying to keep the creature from biting her. The vampire pushed back against Fuku and she was shocked at its strength, a wide smile splitting the lady’s lips as she pushed down onto Fuku heedless of the blade between them. Fuku struggled beneath the vampire as she was pressed down onto the broken wood floor, her blade meeting resistance and stopping it unable to wound this creature. The Lady straddled Fuku and pinned her to the ground with one hand as she took the one around her throat and removed it, gripping the wrist so tightly Fuku could not feel her fingers. “You tried, I’ll give you that” she Lady leaned down over Fuku fully her face filing Fuku’s view. “I have half a mind to change you, to come into my home takes a level of bravery and arrogance I seldom see in this pathetic town.” Fuku felt the panic rise in her chest, her fingers tingling as the fear started to work on her. Fuku frantically tried to struggle and the lady laughed openly in her face, strength for strength she had no chance of removing this woman. “Sadly for you I don’t leave loose ends, when I make a choice it is done.” The lady snarled like a hound her upper lip peeling back over elongated fangs. “Don’t worry little samurai, this will only hurt as much as you want it to” The lady said as she leaned down to tear into Fuku’s throat. Fuku stopped struggling and took in a breath, the lady smiled as she anticipated Fuku’s screaming. Fuku screamed. The walls shook with the force of it, the sound augmented with a burst of Ki. The lady snapped her hands to her ears and roared in pain, the blast of Ki energy striking her nervous system. Fuku lashed out with the hilt of her weapon and struck the lady between the eyes, it felt like striking stone and her sword arm jarred from the impact. The lady lashed out blindly under her, her long nails raking Fukus face in retaliation. Fuku struck again with the hilt smashing it into the Lady’s face as she struggled to be free, the lady swept her hand across Fuku’s eyes her nails seeking flesh. AS she struggled Fuku reversed her blade and pressed it against the Lady’s chest trying to drive it home, the nails scraping across her face drawing blood. The Lady closed her nails around one of Fuku’s eyes and ripped. Fuku’s vision blurred and she shook her head thrashing under the Lady as her eye was pulled free of is socket, the pain drove Fuku to ram the blade into the Lady’s chest. The lady howled the fell backwards scrabbling at the embedded sword as he heels drummed on the floor. Fuku got to her feet as she felt a hot stream over half her face, her body was starting to go numb and a cold was creeping down her right side. She swept at her eyes to get to clear them and her hand came away covered in blood, she staggered towards the desk to stready herself. The screaming Lady grabbed the blade in both hands and pulled it from her chest, throwing it across the room. “I’ll tear out your heart, ill make you one of us and kill you over and over for the rest of time!” She spat. Fuku shook her head, splattering blood across the floor and looked over the table, her one eye trying to focus through the growing numbness. She balled her shaking hands into fists and slammed the bone tabletop trying to clear the tingling in her fingers. “I’m going to turn you and together we will feast on your daughter” The whisper sent a a hideous shiver down Fuku’s back as she felt the vampires lips near her ear, when had she moved so close Fuku wondered. Fuku grabbed the bone table top and vaulted over it breaking into a charge, her body was almost completely numb and she knew this would be her last action. She raised her arms to cover her face and crashed through the window, the wood and glass giving way and showering the garden with sharp fragments. Fuku sailed out the window and plummeted onto the wet ground below landing on her right side, she felt her ribs crack but there was no pain. The numb feeling spread across her chest and she felt the urge to sleep, it was over. “This was not part of the contract, it will cost ya extra” Strong hands grasped her shoulders and pulled her over a large shoulder, she could see the back of an Ogre. She looked up at the window and could hear the howling of the Lady within, she grit her teeth and saw the lady at the window her eyes a dark fury as unconsciousness took her. The Ogre took Fuku from the grounds, part of her hireling team and the backup plan should things go wrong. He would take her to the yellow jackets barracks, by the look of her she would be out for some time. If she ever woke again at all.
