Clear Skies and Tailwinds is an original campaign, set in a dieselpunk version of Central America. The Eden Region is a dictatorship under the rule of General Emanuel Dane. His draconian policies led to a dead economy, an increase in foreign pressure, and a rise in villainous organizations. The four ruling teams have laid claim to almost every major city, and hold their cut of the pie with an iron fist. Each and every one of you has suffered, whether at the hands of the criminal element or by order of the general. That is why you joined Cloud Nine, a paramilitary force led by Commander Hugo Fernandez. Cloud Nine's goal is to overthrow Dane's government and the evil teams, bringing peace and freedom to the citizens of Eden. Your mission, as a group of functional unknowns, is to enter the region and undercut the government's authority over every major city, fighting their major enforcers -the Sheriffs. Of course, if you find anything that might frame said Sheriffs in a bad light, nobody's stopping you from spreading said information. The General isn't your only opposition, though. Every villainous organization, from Dark Wind to Soledad, is very happy with the way things are now. If you want to change the world, you'll need to go through them first. Internal groups aren't the only people invested in your efforts, though. Unova has a lot running on Dane's fall, and Commander Fernandez isn't their favorite choice for the new leadership. If Cloud Nine doesn't take care of things soon, Unova may take matters into her own hands, and that's a deal with the devil that Eden can't afford to pay. ____________________________ CS&T is the combination of a lot of different genres -from pulp fiction, to political intrigue, to superheroes, to spaghetti western, and so on. This would be the second long-running campaign I'll ever run, and perhaps my most ambitious project to date. As such, I'm looking for players with a genuine interest to see this until the end, who are also willing to play fast and loose with setting and lore in favor of communal storytelling and having fun. Fair warning: while mostly intended as PG-13 material, CS&T deals with some pretty heavy subject matter. Characters can and in some cases will die. Kind, honest, incredibly good people with noble intentions can have goals that go against everything the party may want and will have to be stopped regardless of everything else. Your character's ethical lines will have to be established, and may often be crossed. Every fight can be one, but winning some fights may have unexpected consequences, both for the party and for the region as a whole. Expect mentions of torture, abuse, poverty, injustice, and violence. ____________________________ Perhaps most importantly, CS&T has a strong basis in historical events from real countries. That means talking about ethics and morality, and inherently political themes like imperialism and injustice. As a real person living out in the world, I'm not willing to promise that my take of the historical basis for the campaign won't tint the narrative, but I do promise to try and keep things in good faith -and expect the same from everyone participating. Sessions will be on Sunday afternoons (EST), and we'll be using Roll20 and Discord. Players will be starting at level one, with a level five starter (most conventional starters are okay, and anything else can be discussed). We'll be using the Core book and Game of Throhs (with DPDoM being available later on), but characters are allowed a maximum of one supernatural class at creation. As part of character creation, I'm going to need a paragraph of backstory explaining who your character is, what they want, and what defining moment pushed them towards Cloud Nine. Any questions can be asked here, and feel free to comment and critique as well. For the sake of not bogging down the LFG forum, send me your character concepts via PM.
