[LFP] D&D 5e on Saturdays

Reposting because buried DM looking for players interested in playing a game with a relatively new DM. Would like 4-5 players that have at least minimal knowledge on how to play the game. Accepting newcomers, but please be willing to learn on your own terms as well as my nudges and pointers. I aim for a light hearted, but at the same time serious campaign. We can laugh and have our jokes, because it's a game, that's what we do, but I also take time and effort into writing this story and world you're in so I'd appreciate not being totally ridiculous 100% of the time. Your campaign will be set in the world of Tyrian, plopped into Ryujen for reasons unknown and by forces unknown. This will be a sandbox style game and the goal of the party is up to the party. You're all driven together as a group of adventurers unknown to each other and only connected with this unseen force driving you. As your party explores the world around it, they will find their purpose among the kingdoms and in history. Time can only tell what lies ahead. In an application, please include your name (alias or real, doesn't matter much to me), your age, a very brief overview of your experience as a D&D player, your time zones and EST translated available times, and at least an idea of the character you would like to play in this campaign. Nothing is set in stone until the first session however, so don't stress the details too hard. I like to RP don't like to min/max my character. I like to be a good team mate to the group and just help tell a great story. Was thinking of playing either a druid or a wizard. Name: Charlie Age: 28 Experience:  I've been a nerd my whole life.  I grew up loving D&D (though I only played it 5 or 6 times as a kid) and fantasy games.  I've been reading Forgotten Realms, Lord of the Rings, and Dragonlance books since I was a kid.  I've been playing on and off for the last five years.  I always get stuck DM'ing because I love world-building and am ultimately the one who wants to put in the time.  I think I am a patient and balanced player who loves to chase the story. Character:  I like to play Clerics, Sorcerers, Druids, or Rangers but I am excited to play anything really.  I'm more interested in playing a character with some depth that helps drive the story.

Name: Perseus Age: 31 Time: I'm on the West Coast so nothing before 10 AM EST - otherwise Saturday is pretty open for now. Experience: Played a brief bit of AD&D when I was starting High School then 3rd Edition was all the rage and enjoyed that off and on for a few years.  Lost touch with tabletop for awhile and came back to Pathfinder which felt the most familiar as it is very similar to 3/3.5.  Recently started playing 5th Edition and I love how streamlined everything is, been enjoying it for about a year.  Looking for more fun though, hence why I'm here! Character:  I'm definitely a concept driven character guy.  I decide on a theme or idea I want to explore and will do my best to push it to the limit.  I prefer characters that excel at something over generally good all around - in turn having things they aren't good at.  I'm flexible on class and race at the moment, never want to get too settled on anything so early on in the application process.  That being said Bards, Clerics, Druids, Monks, Paladins, Rogues and Sorcerers are all pretty awesome.

Name: Caleb Age:  19 Experience: I've been playing D&D for four or five months, and am looking to try new things and new characters! Character: I've been tossing around the idea of a gnome fighter for a while. I'm down to play anything though. Availability: If it's on a Saturday, I'm good for any time pretty much! Saturdays are generally my free days. Edit: And I do have discord and a headset!

Name: Shawn Age:24 Experience: I have played in a pathfinder game with some friends for some weeks but then had work overtake me, now I am back looking for a D&D group or pathfinder, doesn't matter, but I am hoping ya'll will be willing to help me in character creation because I still have trouble myself. Availability:I am available usually on weekends fridays and sunday nights especially from 11 pm to 6 am as I am at work alone in a gatehouse and they let me do whatever I want as long as I stay awake to open the gate. Character: I typically like playing lawful good paladins, but I am willing to try new classes depending on setting or what the group really needs as I like to make sure I am helpful to the group. Mic: Not as of this moment, but I can use my phone with discord or skype if that works as I need to buy a new computer, currently I am using the work computer.

Name : Evan (that's my real name, but you can call me Plum). Age :18 Experience : I've played around 27-28 hours of D&D 5e (and only 5e). I have only been the DM, but I want to start playing as a player character; and I think that I can make that transition pretty well. Character : I would like to play either a chaotic good Tiefling Ranger or a Lawful Good Dwarf Fighter. But I can be any class that the party would want me to fill. Mic and timezone : I have a mic and discord. My timezone is est; I'm open anytime really on the weekends and all today. I'm open from 3:30 pm to 6pm and 7pm to 10pm on week days (excluding Friday).

Name: Noah Age: 24 Experience: I've been playing DnD my entire life, I have extensive experience in other editions of DnD but relatively new to 5e. I also DM. I also particularly enjoy BlackHack and minimalist systems such as that but really I have no problem with 5e and it's rules.  Character : I usually play Good aligned characters and I can fulfill any role that the party needs me to but usually I settle on Rogues or Fighters. Though, I have been known to be a wizard or cleric as well. Whichever suits the party fine.  Mic and timezone : I have Mic and discord, and I am open any time on the weekends as long as I know beforehand. I am on Pacific time. Weekdays I get off work around 4 pm. 

Name: Oded Age: 18 years old Experience: I have played quite a bit of D&D, I have a lot of experience in 3.5e, a lot of it in DMing as well. I have read up quite a bit on 5e though, as I was planning on using this edition with my friends, so I am completely up to date with almost all of the rules, and I love roleplaying, light-hearted, or serious and dark, they are all fun to me :) (I have played D&D ever since I was 8, and I've always loved it) Character: I'd love to play a variety of different things, as I haven't gotten around to actually truly play a character in 5th edition, my head is brimming with ideas about what to play, so I am up for almost anything you'd like to have in the party, however I would prefer a spellcaster of some sorts (doesn't have to be full spellcasting, nor do I REALLY need to play a spellcaster, it is just a preference). Also, Barbarian, Cleric, and Ranger are 3 classes which I quite disliked in 5 edition, and so I would prefer not playing them, however, I would agree to try a Cleric. Also, if you're ever looking for someone to play an evil character, or a defector, I love playing those roles as well :D Mic and timezone: I have a completely available microphone. My timezone is EST +8 hours, depending on the time you'd like to play on Saturdays though, this shouldn't be too big of an issue, especially because soon school will no longer be a factor for me.

Aiden, What is your DM style? Should we expect a more combat oriented game or will there be a good mix of RP?

Good question Scott. I like to have a healthy mix of both, depending on my players. From what it seems, we're going to be having a more RP orientated campaign.

Will there be a session Zero to help do some character building?

Character:  I would like to play a Chaotic Good Silver Dragonborn Barbarian although i'm more than ok with playing whatever the party needs since I have ideas for almost every class. Name: Caleb Age: 16 Experience: I am a player and a DM for two other campaigns, so I know my way around 5e. Character: I have a character already made that I have been wanting to try for a while. It is a Water Genasi multi class between a Fighter with the Gunslinger subclass and a rogue. His goal is to establish a true thieves guild and spread his influence across the world, by any means necessary. He believes in strong bonds and won't break those he believes are truly special.
