NPC's and Monster creation...

Is there a way to create a drop down on the menu to allow me to create NPC's or monsters besides going to game settings and selecting NPC as default sheet?

If you are using the 5E OGL character sheet, I believe you can set the campaign's default settings to set NPC as the default for all new characters. Is that not working for you? It won't retroactively change existing characters, though.

Why are you making multiple duergar tokens (since they're numbered, I'm assuming these are mooks)? See the  linking tokens to journal entries for info on creating mook tokens so you don't need a character for each instance of a mook.

a few thoughts: 1. yes that's basically the way. if you aren't creating more PCs, then setting it to default means every character is an NPC/Monster, which is what I think most GMs will need. The pathfinder and I think both 5e sheets have this setting. Since you're going to be making a lot fewer PCs than NPCs/Monsters it's a lot easier this way. (these sheets also have an on-sheet checkbox to switch them to PC mode) 2. For the 5e OGL sheet, i think you can drag from the compendium directly to the map and it will create a character sheet. I think there is an API companion required to make it work, not sure. I am not sure if the 5e Shaped Sheet does this. We're looking into enabling this behavor for the Pathfinder sheet too.

The Shaped Sheet adds a properly configured character to the Journal tab when dragged from the Compendium, but you still have to assign a token to it.
Rabulias, that was what I am trying to avoid... I was watching video after video and the person (Taking20) showed that feature just part of his drop down menu. I know I can go into the campaign settings, select NPC defualt, and manually type everything in, but I am just lazy and was hoping to skip that step. LOL Yikes... I had no idea about linking tokens... I just now clicked the "i" tab at the top of the screen. I thought it was for information and not realizing it has everything I wanted... So much information in the tutorial I just must have spaced on it. Thanks for that Scott C. Just to make sure I'm understanding, when I clear, (I did delete all the Duergar in my list btw), if I want to have one of those dark dwarves be someone high ranking, I just use the Character creation instead of the default NPC character sheet? I'm assuming because I have all the stats on my information tab, I won't need then to create an NPC stat block. If that is the case, then will it matter if I ever use the NPC setting in the campaign settings if I already have all the information at my fingertips already? Do you guys still create NPC's in campaign settings? Thanks, ~ John

You don't really have to use the NPC setup (drag and drop from the compendium won't work with the PC tab), the npc tab of the sheets (5e OGL, shaped, or pathfinder) are really just there because entering information in a statblock-like way is often easier for an NPC than having to go through all the fiddly bits of a PC sheet. Personally, all my NPC's are made on the NPC tab (I play pathfinder, so different sheet) and I just make a separate character for high ranking or named NPC-x (for my campaign, it's a lot of orcs and robots atm). I will say that if you use the PC tab for your monsters, you'll have to adjust the whisper attribute of the sheet (all three of the ones I mentioned have this as far as I know) so that their rolls whisper to you instead of being broadcast to the players. The chatSetAttr script, or probably the sheet's defaults in game settings, can help you with that. Also, not quite sure what about Rabulias' suggestion you were trying to avoid.

For monsters I use the shortcut npc settings, for special NPCs I make them up like a PC. So basically only the "boss" if it has class levels, or special returning villians etc get much effort.
Well now I'm going to sound like an idiot... I can't find the original video. I closed down all the tabs I had open and can't find the video in my Youtube history. I did find video of the same guy using a different sheet, but that isn't helpful. Once I find it again I'll send you the link. While rechecking before sending this reply,&nbsp;I just found this link. Should be all I need... Yikes. It's the simple things I just don't look at. LOL <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rDHO351FP0" rel="nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rDHO351FP0</a>
