Mage the Awakening 2E/Mage the Ascension Storyteller Looking for Interest (Evenings/Night EST, Days Undecided)

Greetings everyone and welcome to, you guessed it, an interest check for a Mage the Awakening 2E/Mage the Ascension game! Before I go much further with this interest check, let me elaborate on the somewhat vague title. First and foremost, this is a Mage the Awakening 2E game although, thanks to the conversion guide by Onyx Path Publishing, I will likely be adding elements from Mage the Ascension in the setting as well. Things that break the MtA2E lore will not be allowed, but things that bend it slightly are not an issue. If you are wanting to play something from Mage the Ascension, you will need to have read the conversion guide, been okay with the conversions, then clear your concept with me. I'm fairly chill as a storyteller so please do not hesitate to ask. I would prefer that you all ask questions on this thread or the actual recruitment (assuming we get that far,) as my inbox tends to get swamped from all the LFG groups I am a part of and all the people trying out for my Pathfinder Discord group posing a battery of questions. Regarding the specifics of the game itself, I have not decided an exact time or date yet, although evenings/nights EST is probably a given. The game will be a live text game to be played once every week or so, hosted either on this site or on a Discord server. In between group sessions, I have little issue with pursuing individual storylines as PBPs or as scheduled events. If you want to, say, work on your own version of a Philosopher's Stone or delve deep into the Astral in search of knowledge or power, I would be more than happy to help you explore your character's story. Now that any confusion regarding the title is cleared, let us discuss why I made this thread. I have been on many roleplaying websites and there is a distinct lack of ANY Mage game, although I have seen more requests for it than any other World of Darkness subset, except for maybe Vampire the Masquerade. The disparity between players and storytellers in this game is quite bizarre, truth be told. There are surely many reasons why people are hesitant to run this game, although I suspect that the largest reason is because being a storyteller for this game is daunting. There is a lot of improvisation involved due to the very nature of players being able to bend reality in the various ways they do. I am not so easily dissuaded, however. I believe that it would be very rewarding to run a Mage the Awakening game again, as it has one of the richest lores in all the WoD series and offers one of the most diverse selections of stories to tell. So, exposition aside, let me ask the question implicit in the title of this thread: are you interested in a Mage the Awakening 2E game? Are you ready to carve your name on one of the Watchtowers, immerse yourself in the Astral Realms, rediscover the secrets of lost Atlantis, speak with beings older than time itself, and wield the power of the arcane for your purposes? Are you ready to walk the razor's edge between power and paradox? If so, drop your hat in the ring and, if you would like, a small concept of your character. I will be putting out feelers onto other sites as well to try and make sure that there is enough interest for this game. I will be on for a few hours after this post, but later today will be somewhat sketchy with posting due to tonight being date night. I will endeavor to check back and see how this thread is progressing though. Until then, ladies and gentlemen, this is Supernal signing out!
Bump.
Hello The Supernal Storyteller . I'm a little surprised this thread hasn't gotten more attention, for exactly the same reasons you mentioned; I've seen a few Mage games pop up over the past few months, but far from this lack of interest, they tend to almost get smothered. Actually, on that note, are you also are you also Supernal Exarch on the giantitp forums? The dates and writing styles seem to match, and if so perhaps that's where all the interest has gone. If you are still interested in running this in roll20 though, I would be very interested in playing. I've only been aware of the WoD universe for about a year, and am a total novice with regards to Mage, but I am very keen to learn more. My concept would be to play a character in a similar position to myself with regards to Mage lore, i.e. a total novice, recently Awakened. Preferably one with high mental stats, and a focus on either Medicine or Science/Computers. Awakens as either an Obrimos after digging too deep in intellectual endeavors, or as a Mastigos after dwelling on Laplace's Demon for too long. Possibly after ramping up to awakening using psychedelics. Oh, and for some reason, I think I want my character to have a dog. I realize it's been a while since you've made the OP, so I hope you'll still check back here and haven't lost your interest. Fingers crossed :)
Hi. I'm suuuuper interested in everything you posted, but I'm only seeing this 2 weeks after (dang). I hope you're still recruiting though. I'm acquainted with the WoD universe, played werewolf, vampire and only one month ago I started reading Mage the Ascension revised edition, aaaand I'm lovin it! I know a few things, but I'm still a noob lol. I have two concepts in mind, the first is hacker and the second is a professor who studies mythology and religions. Fingers crossed with Yvo up here :v
Hello I'm gonna add to the general shock that this thread hasn't blown up, I've been searching for a Mage game for awhile and it seemed like if I missed the posting by an hour it would already have 20 potential players. Being completely honest I am a nWoD novice, I've never played a game myself but after listening to a few MtAW actual plays I have fallen in love with the lore and I feel fairly confident in my understanding of the system. If you are still interested in running this game I have a concept for either a mastigos or acanthus art dealer, someone interested in sympathetic magic and with a focus on social skills. Fingers crossed :)
