[LFG] Something old school, weekday evening, CST

OD&D, 1e, C&C, S&W, LL, whatever.  I want player maps, extensive notes, weird puzzles, hireling meatshields, and fear of the dark.  Anyone run anything like that?
Your timing is interesting. I was thinking of running a sandbox hex crawl using either an OSR game or Shadow of the Demon Lord. I'm in the process of finishing up a hex map now using Hexographer.  The region is a vast unexplored wilderness. I was thinking it might be fun to start off with the map covered in "Fog of War" and have the players map it out as they go. Does this sound like something you'd be interested in? For the record, I use Skype for audio, but no video. I'm in EST, so CST evenings should be fine.  Days may vary slightly from week to week based on schedule, but I'm usually pretty free.

I'm interested in the old school D&D and clone versions that Zach and Nerosfiddle are talking about. CST and might be interested in some weekday night gaming like so. Already in one on Thursday AD&D.
Nero, I would definitely be up for that.  Haven't played Shadow of the Demon Lord, but I've heard good things about it.  I'm really not particular about system anyway.  I adapt pretty easily. For schedule, 7pm CST/8pm EST is usually the earliest I can get on a game after work.  I'm pretty flexible on what day we play.

The time is perfect. And I for one have a measure of wiggle room if you need to start a little later. How about you Gold? If you'd like to try Shadow, I'd be happy to run it. It's a tight mechanics set, but what sets it apart is the tone of the game. It's decidedly on the darker end of the scale. I've seen it compared to Lamentations of the Flame Princess, and heard it called the spiritual successor to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. I'd say those are both very fair assessments. Of course, that's not everyone's cup of tea, so your mileage may vary. Otherwise, I was thinking either Basic Fantasy RPG or Castles & Crusades. I've never actually run either of them, but I have the PDFs and have read through them. I'd be open to other OSR games too if you guys prefer, but I'll confess to a preference for ascending AC. It's not a deal breaker by any stretch, just a personal preference. BFRPG is free from the publisher, so that's good, and I like the character sheet for it here on Roll20. Haven't looked at the C&C one yet.
C&C would actually be my first pick.  The C&C character sheet on Roll20 is minimal in terms of features, but it's perfectly usable.  I've run it a couple times, but haven't gotten to play it yet, and for me it strikes a perfect balance of very light rules with enough player options to be fun.  But I'm open to trying any system, including Shadow.
Cool.  We'll see if Gold has a preference and go from there.  It might be fun to get one or two more players too, so if anyone lurking wants to jump in, feel free.
