New Player with big dreams!

Im New to D&D, But I have always really wanted to play. I have a friend who is interested in playing also. I have a pretty flexible schedual and Monday/Tuesday i have all day since i don't work these days. Im looking for a group that is focused more on developing a storyline with a creative DM, since the storytelling aspect of D&D Is what I really want to get into. I'm looking to play a Highly charismatic Paladin that i have created an elaborate backstory to, but i would need healp with my character sheet as well. I am looking to get into D&D 3.5 or D&D next if possible. would really love any group thats newbie friendly!

Welcome. Realize a lot of time paladins are a hot button issue, because too many people have seen the paladin character, (and sometimes player) as an egotistical narcissist, dispensing their own flavor of "justice" at point of sword. Hijacked campaigns and stoylines. Not always not maybe regularly, but enough that I know people hear "Paladin", and think "Oh, nooeees!" Look around at how many "I hate cops" threads there are all over the internet. Everybody hates the Sherrif that can kill you for "Wanting to have your fun, with no restrictions." There are groups out there maybe look around.. I personally do not usually have paladins in my settings, which are usually dark ages, not high crusade timeline. (even though I am from a military and police family.) Too many times I have seen "Justice, (but not) tempered by Mercy" as a GM to even toy with it. Good luck. You might do well to apply to individual campaigns.
