[Interest Check] Simple Game Where We Roll Characters From These Tables

"Randomness As an Instituion..." https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/2280516 ... is just an idea I have for everyone making a character mostly generated by tables and rolling. It would play into the themes, but it would make it a game of taking what you rolled and making it work, not pouring through a hundred books to min/max -- which, you're welcome to do if you roll that. :P I've never done this. I was always critical of too much randomness, but... I want to find a balance for an experimental game about jumping in and just playing with new people in the most simple way possible. Theme song: (lol) https://soundcloud.com/fromthefirmament/randomness-as-an-instituion --- TABLE 1.1 --- DETERMINE HOMELAND 1 Roll 1d20 on Table 1.2 for homeland 2 Roll 1d20 on Table 1.3 for homeland 3 Roll 1d6 on Table 1.4 for homeland --- TABLE 1.2 --- 1 Absalom 2 Andoran 3 Brevoy 4 Cheliax 5 Druma 6 Galt 7 Hermea 8 Hold of Belkzen 9 Irrisen 10 Isger 11 Kyonin 12 Lastwall 13 Lands of the Linnorm Kings 14 Mendev 15 Molthune 16 Nidal 17 Nirmathas 18 Numeria 19 Qadira 20 Razmiran --- TABLE 1.3 --- 1 Realm of the Mammoth Lords 2 The River Kingdoms 3 Taldor 4 Ustalav 5 Varisia 6 Worldwound 7 Alkenstar 8 Geb 9 Jalmeray 10 Katapesh 11 Mediogalti Island 12 Mwangi Expanse 13 Nex 14 Osirion 15 Rahadoum 16 Sargava 17 The Shackles 18 The Sodden Lands 19 Thuvia 20 Tian Xia --- Table 1.4 --- 1 (Roll On Table 1.1 Again) 2 Casmaron (1d4 1Kelesh, 2ImpossibleKindom, 3Vudra, 4Other) 3 Crown of the World 4 Arcadian Ocean 5 Extraplanar 6 Another Planet --- --- TABLE 2.1 --- DETERMINE RACE 1 Human (Roll On Table 2.2) 2 Elf 3 Dwarf 4 Gnome 5 Halfling 6 Half-elf 7 Half-orc 8 Catfolk 9 Ratfolk 10 Gillman 11 Geniefolk (1d4 1Oread,2Sylph,3Undine,4Ifrit) 12 Planetouched (1d6 even-Aasimar,odd-Tiefling, ) --- TABLE 1.2 --- DETERMINE ETHNICITY 1 Chelish (Taldane) 2 Garundi (Osirioni) 3 Keleshite (Kelish) 4 Kellid (Hallit) 5 Mwangi (Polyglot) 6 Taldan (Taldane) 7 Tian (Tien) 8 Ulfen (Skald) 9 Varisian (Varisian) 10 Vudrani (Vudrani) --- TABLE 3.1 --- CLASS 1 (Roll Again) 2 Roll 1d12 on Table 3.2 for class 3 Roll 1d12 on Table 3.2 for class 4 Roll 1d10 on Table 3.3 for class --- TABLE 3.2 --- DETERMINE CORE CLASS 1 Barbarian 2 Bard 3 Cleric 4 Druid 5 Fighter 6 Monk 7 Paladin 8 Ranger 9 Rogue 10 Sorcerer 11 Wizard 12 (Roll 1.1 again) --- TABLE 3.3 --- DETERMINE BASE CLASS 1 Alchemist 2 Cavalier 3 Gunslinger 4 Inquisitor 5 Magus 6 Ninja 7 Oracle 8 Samurai 9 Summoner 10 Witch **Be aware: The Unchained Rogue, Monk, Summoner, and Barbarian are assumed. -- TABLE 3.4 --- DETERMINE CLASS OPTIONS You roll once here. THIS SHOULD BE NOTED SEPERATELY FROM THE TOTAL IN A MISC MODIFIER COLUMN PLZ. --- TABLE 6.1 --- Select Feat(s) Pick 2 feats. Roll a d6, odd-take your first feat; even, take your second. If this makes you unhappy, you can select the feat you want and not roll. But... try it out maybe? *Paizo content only plz. --- TABLE 6.2 --- Select Traits. The one thing you get to pick without any rolling is to help you wrap it all up into something that makes sense. Find any 2 traits (or 3 +1drawback) that you can find -- these are subject to judgement but most likely ok if not 3pp and mad. Try to make sense of why you are a person who came from such a place with such abilities and why perhaps you were not able to min/max (or, how you found your role to play well!) This is just an interest check. I'm thinking of doing a somewhat random game set in Golarion somewhere. I don't really like running games with a lot of people involved who are all new and strangers to me lol. So, I would prefer to run a game with like two players, maybe three, and possibly even one if he wanted. It's easier for me to manage to get to know people this way. If I hear back from anyone we can talk about it. I'm doing weekends and evenings and nights lately.

Only Plus and Pro subscribers can make their games visible to the public ; by default a link such as https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1234567/s ... is only visible to players already in the game. The best way to handle this situation is to create a Looking for Group listing ; even if you do not enable it for viewing in the LFG Directory you can share the link with others and have a separate Listing Discussion forum just for those potentially interested in your game. As a bonus, anyone who posts to your game's Listing Discussion forum will have a big blue button by their username and all a GM has to is click 'Invite to Game' and an invitation will be sent their way. I hope this helps, happy gaming! :)

Yeah, I would have done that if I felt like I was certain that a game would take off. I don't know that anyone is going to want to play that sort of game so not entirely sure there will even be a game. Do you think more people look through the game listings than through the forum here? I really don't know. But I do know that you have to schedule a game for yourself to appear, and like... I'm not going to put effort into planning out a session to run without some words of, "Yeah, that's a good idea," or, "No, I would never do that," or, "Why not try this..." Sort of a new approach to an old fashioned simplicity of random. So, I might be "looking for group" if I meet the right, small number of people. But, if I meet them I hopefully won't be looking very long. [[[But thank you for dropping the knowledge because I remember learning about listings and game pages and I didn't understand it at first. It was not well liked haha. I know it's a good idea to schedule a game really soon and queue up all the last minute people who are getting eyes on your listing, like if you dont have any players.]]]] TLDR, I just wanted some thoughts on the idea. Edit: I just added it lol. I guess it cant hurt but I hate to advertise games that dont end up working out.
AMENDMENT TO THE ROLLING OF RACE: **If you do not roll human (1), you can always take human and go on to roll human ethnicity instead of taking that race if you really wanted to not be a certain race.
