Looking to get experience so i can start joining games!

Hello i'm Dee from Denmark. It's been hard for me to join games, because i don't know what to do. So i'd like some advice, to know what people are generally looking for when reviewing an application, how to make a character before hand that could fit within about most settings and any sort of stuff so i can get started role playing really! Thank you for reading.
Greetings fellow Denmarkian...... I could go on in Danish for the lulz, but lets just keep it professional! How exactly are you having trouble getting into games? No invites here, or no games that take you on when you post an application on the Looking For Group game search? Personally, when I review an application, I look for signs that the player has put some deep thought into the character they play, and for that reason I, again, personally, would not recommend making "universal" characters. I think it's better to design your character to fit into the setting, game, whatever, that you're applying for. Other than that, a friendly and polite attitude always helps! So does an interest in the world placed before you, at least to me :) Anywuss, if you wanna test your skillz at applications, you can always check my game,  The Goddess Tree . I'm choosing my players this Friday, and I can't guarantee you a spot, but for the sake of kinship, I wouldn't mind helping you improve if I see something "missing"?
Hello! thank you for responding and it's quite nice to see that Danes have a place here as well! Anyway the problem is, that I'm not use to flesh out a character and making something specific to their setting and getting rejected can be heart-wrenching. Maybe not universal as in "i put my wizard elf in a sci-fi pilot game" but more of this character stealthy has dark family background and seeks redemption kinda. And well yeah that no games takes me on when i post an application. but yeah it's hard to put deep thought into a character when have 0 experience making a character.
That's true, it can be a bit of a tough cookie without experience. But you an only gain experience by trying and then trying again. Anywuss, what you could do is start with a concept, just a word or small sentence to describe the character. Let's say you're making a character for my game. You'd have to be a servant of the duke, I already established that. Maybe you want to be an Honorable Royal Guard  or something. That's the concept. Then, class... Well, a Royal Guard would fit well with the Fighter Class. That's the more simplistic parts. Now, ask yourself, WHY did he become a Royal Guard? Did he have a relative in the Guard he looked up to? How was his training (you'd be level 1, so not much training, but there'd be some). Was it tough? Why? And so on and so forth. Put in some personality traits, wishes, goals etc. :) Most of this can be applied to "universal" characters too. Just scrap the rule that has you be a servant of the duke. Hope this helps just a bit at least, even if you don't feel like trying to sign up for the game.
Hey there Dee! If you want(and could work with the time) I will be  running a game for beginners in Dungeons and Dragons. Now I know you being from Denmark would make things difficult time wise. However if you want to try the door is open :). As far as advice goes, be honest! Tell them you are new to DnD and may need assistance from time to time. However you can make things easier for you and your DM by also ensuring you know the basic rules of whichever tabletop roleplaying game you wish to join into, and make sure you have a basic idea of what you want to play. (Want to play a devilish rogue? Look in your game's options for a devilish rogue and have them ready when you are creating your character with your DM ^.^.
Pippen, thank you for responding! Sadly yes, the time won't work for me. But i appreciate the offer and think it's great that you you're willing to teach new comers. So good work and hope it goes well. As for the Advice. Well the problem is there not all (besides you and some few great others) is willing to teach when it comes to mainstream RPGS such as DnD and Pathfinder. And fewer again in Europe as it seems it's more popular in the new world. But i'm happy to see you helping others, that's encouraging!
