Can a GM also play as a character?

Sorry if I'm not using the correct terms here. First time posting and just signed up. I am wondering if, as a GM, I can also play a character in my game? Or am I restricted to just running the game as a GM?

That's an entirely social question.  As GM, you have unrestricted control of all entities in the game.  If you want to create a character and play it, nothing on Roll20 will prevent you from doing that.

It would be very similar to trying the same thing at a traditional tabletop. If you can make it work around the kitchen table, you should be able to do so at the virtual table.
GMPCs (a PC run by the GM) are not very popular.  :o)

Thanks for the info.
I tend to have small groups and thus do this often. As long as the DMPC isnt calling shots and running the game it works out fine. I roleplay them as if they have no knowledge and do anything intelligence based with dice rolls and only if the regular PC's are stuck. Never been an issue.
@Josh - that's exactly what I do as well.

As your question has been answered handily, this topic will be closed. Good luck!
