Changing colour of chat box?

My partner has irlen syndrome and has an incredible amount of difficulty reading text with a white background for extended periods (Any more than five minutes and her ability to absorb information is pretty much gone.) We usually use a chrome plug-in that changes the colour scheme of pages, but it doesn't work with the Roll20 in game chat box. Is there a way to change the colour scheme or add colour backgrounds to the chat?

Hi Eris, you could use the Stylish extension to alter the client side experience. There are a number of  themes that have been written for use with Roll20 and some of those have alternate chat box background colours in place already.
Thank you very much! It doesn't change the colour of the boxes generated when you click on them in the character sheets, but she's thrilled still! :)

I think that area is out of scope for Stylish BUT there are a lot of clever Stylish users here at Roll20 so lets see if any of those can help further later on (most are State-side so let's give them chance to have coffee first ;) ). If you could drop a couple of screenshots of the areas you'd still like to alter we may be able to suggest other options too... Glad we could help a bit, fingers crossed for the rest of the way! Happy rolling.
I've gotten her to take some screenshots and write down a touch of information about them, this is what she had to say (copy pasted); <a href="https://prnt.sc/fkgnj8" rel="nofollow">https://prnt.sc/fkgnj8</a> , as mentioned before! <a href="https://prnt.sc/fkgnt9" rel="nofollow">https://prnt.sc/fkgnt9</a> - Anything that removes more of the white would be a massive bonus. Part of the issue is light sensitivity, so white appearing around the black still causes some strain. <a href="https://prnt.sc/fkgo3w" rel="nofollow">https://prnt.sc/fkgo3w</a> The info box is not touched at all by the mod. But all in all, what you've already suggested has improved my ability to use and read the chat box massively. Thank you all so much for your quick reply and help. It's hugely appreciated, and I am massively impressed. Thank you.

Thanks for those, the sheet based issues (chat output and sheet background) can likely (again by more skilled folk than I!) be changed to something less glaring by using a 'custom' sheet based on the original but with slight html/css adjustments. This would require the creator of the game to agree to using the altered code and have the issue of requiring manual updating any time there is a new release of the sheet though. Roll20 has a lot of users dedicated to improving the accessibility of the VTT so watch this space :)
I (Eris) am the creator of the game! I could use a custom sheet, although I am currently already using a custom sheet (5e shaped) so that I can use the companion script that goes with it, although I haven't updated the sheet itself in a little while... Honestly, I wouldn't know where to start in regards to modifying it, but any help would be appreciated!&nbsp;
Hi Eris G., as Ziechael has stated, we are always working to make sure Roll20 is accessible as possible to everyone! However, as we work towards this goal, your best bet currently is to adjust the character sheets themselves. Your best resource is going to be in the&nbsp; Character Sheets & Compendium section of our forums where a lot of our sheet authors like to hang out! Additionally, most operating systems do offer the ability to lower the amount of blue light to reduce eye stress (usually called night mode). This will make the screen less of a glaring white and more of a softer yellow/beige color. So if your friend is not already, it may help. Best of luck (and loot!)
Stylish most definitely can override roll template colors and styles.
