Greetings, citizens of Lastwall! This is a call to arms. I,
the very man who penned this parchment, and nailed it to the very post on which
you read it, am founding a new order of Knights to stand against the darkness,
particularly the orcish hoards of Belkzen. If you are a person of extraordinary
talent of any kind, and wish to aid the forces of righteousness against such
terrors, please contact me!
I was going to do the entire thing in character, but it didn’t
work well, so I’ll leave it at that. I am a GM with over a year of experience
with Pathfinder, but throughout the whole of said experience I have been
running adventure paths and organized play scenarios. Designing my own
adventures is something I have only done a little bit to supplement said APs,
and so in hopes of acquiring such experience, I am starting a homebrew
campaign.
I have managed to recruit three players from my other
campaigns, so you will be joining an established group, but a brand new
campaign. We will play every other Wednesday starting on July 19 th .
Play will start at 12:00 Noon Central Time, (or soon afterward) and continue
however long we feel like. (Your schedule should, at the least, normally permit
at least a 5 hour session for when everyone is up for it, though four hours
will be the average length in practice if things are similar to my usual
games.)
The game will be over discord. As with my other games, I
intend to live-stream it to YouTube. I do this mostly for record keeping
purposes. (They get 2-4 views on average.)
I do not require any prior experience with Pathfinder
mechanics or Campaign Setting lore. I am perfectly happy to have new players in
this group, and am willing to walk them through character creation.
My one qualification, and forgive me for being so harsh, is
that you show the fuck up at least nine tenths of the time. I am very serious
about this. While I am aware that “life happens,” I am only interested in
players capable of managing life’s happenings well enough to attend a bi-weekly
game consistently. Please only contact me if you are the type of person who
will consider attending the game somewhat of a priority. If you will miss every
other game because you have to help your friend move this week, then you have
an appointment two sessions later, then you go on vacation next session, then
you have to take over a co-worker’s shift two sessions later etc. I don’t want
you as a player. If you’re not going to play, we need to come to an
understanding that you are no longer in the campaign, so you can be replaced,
instead of you taking up a slot in the party but not actually using it.
Punctuality is also important, but a little less so. While
the stated time is Noon, I’ll admit that half the time it is 12:10 to 12:15
before I actually am ready to start things. Consider that your margin of error.
If you must, it is okay to be a little later than that, (past 12:30 you’re
unacceptably late) but please make it clear that you are online and going to be
there soon by 12:15. Don’t leave us wondering whether you’re going to show up
by being silent.
Now, Character creation:
Starting Level: 1. I intend to take this game all the way to
20, which will likely take well over a year.
Ability Scores: 20 Point Buy
Starting Wealth: You will roll as normal
HP: You’ll take max at first level, and roll thereafter.
Keep a record of your rolls. If you fall unacceptably far behind, past 1s will
be re-rolled to alleviate this.
Race: Any published by Paizo. If it has 20 or more race
points, talk to me about it. I will probably approve it. Humans, Half-orcs,
Aasimars, Tieflings, Kobalds, and other “monstery” races are especially
appropriate for this game. If you choose to be a goblin, do not use it as an
excuse to be an ass.
Class: Any published by Paizo. The three players who are
already on-board intend to play a Dragon Disciple, a Brawler and a Cavalier. Our
major blind-spots, then, are divine spellcasting and skill-monkeying.
Thematically speaking, Paladins, Clerics, Oracles and Rogues will be especially
appropriate for this game. Paladins in particular will get a lot of mileage
thematically.
Alignment: No evil. You should probably be good-aligned,
though I am potentially flexible on that. The party should lean good overall,
and there is already one neutral aligned member, so there should at most be one
more.
Deity: I will not allow your character to worship an evil deity
even if you yourself are not evil. Iomedae and Sarenrae are especially appropriate
for this campaign. While worship of Gorum is common in Lastwall, I will say
that I discourage it heavily for PCs, as RPing consistently as a follower of
Gorum will force your hand regarding certain story decisions which I would like
you to have to put more thought into. (Gorum is pro-war, so you will be unable
to choose pro-peace options as a follower of his.)
Fluff: Your character should have a backstory and
personality. The campaign will have its own plot, but I will do what I can to
incorporate your backstory into the game.
Your character is joining what is essentially a good-aligned
mercenary company which its leader, a prominent NPC, hopes will become
recognized as an order of knights. Lastwall, where your group will be based, is
basically a large mass of paladins sculpted into a country. It is next to
Belkzen, which is a large mass of orcs sculpted into a country. You can see how
conflict emerges.
The group is shaping up to be somewhat of a collection of
misfits, so you might consider making a character who either fits, or, perhaps,
specifically contrasts it.
I think that’s everything. Please PM me if you are
interested, ideally with some info on the type of character you're interested in playing, and I will invite you to the discord. Will you stand against the
orcish hoards?
