Guys, How would I use dynamic lighting in a jungle map? The jungle is dense so players vision is restricted. Would fog of war be more suited to this?
I usually draw long lines through the jungle in various ways to provide paths but not much sight. The downside is that if you go overboard (which I often do...) it can become somewhat laggy... This one wasn't too bad for lag, probably because I was using global illumination: This one has been pretty painful, probably because of all the light sources:
Aaron, Your dynamic lighting is great, but wouldn't it be revealed by a flying familiar or character? The jungle canopy is supposed to be too dense to see the ground from above. What do you think about fog of war for this?
For a flying familiar, I'd likely use more of a Theater of the Mind approach, or perhaps drag their familiar to a few points of interest and let them look at them, telling them they can see those features, etc.
You could also duplicate the page and turn off dynamic lighting on that copy. Drag them onto that map while flying. Not ideal, but it would allow one player to have a birds-eye view.
