Token and Object Permissions

Why is the default for all tokens edit-enabled for all players? Is there a way to change this?
The edit box is checked by default, but only players who you assign control of the token to would be able to edit it. I don't believe there is a way to change the default, but if you don't assign control of the token to anyone, only the GM will be able to edit the token fields. Is that not what's happening for your tokens?

As Sarah said, we changed the default because this was how 95% of people were using it -- when you assign control of a token to a player, 9/10 times you want them to be able to change the token's bars, auras, etc. as well. It was confusing for folks to have to assign control, and then remember to check 8 boxes on top of that. If you don't assign control of a token to someone (under the "Controlled By" field), then those boxes that are checked don't do anything. If you are assigning control and only want them to be able to move it, you can uncheck the boxes.
Thanks! That makes sense.
I'm one of the 5% apparently... I want my players to be able to move their tokens, see their bars, click their token-based macros, and view their attributes. I do NOT want them to be able to EDIT or CHANGE anything! Only the API or the GM (me) should be allowed to change things or make edits.

Although, just to be clear, we're talking about the option that let them edit their bars (e.g. change the hitpoints) and update their auras. If you don't let your players handle those things that's perfectly fine and that's why we kept the option, as I said we changed the default because the old default was confusing folks and 95% of people were not using it that way. I'm going to go ahead and close this thread because this is not a bug, and the original question has been answered.
