DM Update: July 2017 Hey everyone, I hope everyone is doing well, and I am glad to see
so many of you still with us. I know we as DMs have been sort of quiet
for the last month or so but we have run into a few problems. These are
not insurmountable problems, but they do require some creative problem
solving. First, an admission: We simply do not have enough DMs. Right
now, we have to my knowledge, five active DMs and only three of those
are working with 5th Edition. Mark and Lynn are doing a great job
producing Open Legend content and we encourage you to jump on
opportunities to be a part of their playtests as they are both talented
artists and storytellers. Open Legend is a different, but fun system,
and we hope to have more DMs to handle that system soon as well, as the
demand for OL content continues to rise in our community! However,
back to our DM shortage. We have three active 5th Edition DMs who are all currently running long-term campaigns. Not to mention, some
DMs run games not necessarily affiliated with G4C. Therefore, without
some of you stepping up to try a hand in DMing, we cannot keep up with
the demand for games , it is simple as that. We have been actively
trying to recruit new DMs both in G4C and outside and we have limited to
success. You want more games? We hear ya, we want more too! But we must
have more DMs to step up. Second, thank you for filling out the survey! We
are still collecting the data and are talking about ways to address
some of your concerns as a DM team. However, only nine of you
have filled out the survey so far. This is hardly a representation of
the active players on this site. Please take a few minutes to help us to
understand where we are at as a community. The more we know, the more
we can try to step in and help. We will not be able to make everyone
happy, but we do want you to know that we have heard what you have to
say. We value your input! Third, remember this is a Christian community. One
of the things that makes G4C unique is that we are group table top
roleplayers who love Jesus and want to be Christ to those both inside
and outside the church. The G4C Code of Conduct was written so that we
would respect each other. You do not have to a Christian to be a part
of our community, but we do ask that you would abide by our Code of
Conduct while you play here. Adherence to this code is binding not just
on you as a player, but we as DMs as well. As DMs we have the
responsibility to be sure to keep the game at tasteful, respectful level
at all times; we must be the ones to call excessive or aggressive
language and we must do so more often, especially if a player lets us
know that it bothers them. We will do more as DMs to make sure that our
games remain honoring to Christ in our communication and practice. Thanks for being patient with us, as a lot of things are still be worked out. We love you all in Christ!
