Hello everyone, I'm interested in joining a game in a sci-fi setting. What I'm looking for particularly are 2 distinct areas. For the first I would like something to do with space exploration. I've tried a couple settings for this, one being stars without number, the system was just too bare bones, it has very little that can make a character feel interesting from a mechanical point of view. And I've tried Rogue Trader which has an indepth system, but fails in it's leveling experience as you gain a lot of XP to unlock stuff and are basicly forced to waste it in things that do not make sense because there is going to be very few that make sense for your character per rank. I am willing to learn a new system so long as it's indepth enough to make each character feel mechanicly very different from each other in the same class. I also would prefer systems that don't force players to chose between skills and combat capacity. Kinda like what D&D did with 5th edition where they are set apart so you character can have competence in both areas. As far as another thing I'd like it would be a game where players would be piloting mechs. It could be as soldiers from a country or as mercenaries, but basicly a unit of mechs. Unfortunatly this one would probably have a bit less roleplay which is a shame but it's just something I've never played before and would love to. In both cases I'd also like to be playing with a group of mature players. I've been in games in the past where players felt like it was fun to play characters that acted like teenagers who just hit puberty and that was not fun at all. It's alright to have characters that joke around, but not characters who basicly do not take anything seriously at all. Thanks. EDIT: I'd be willing to play Stars Without Number if whomever invites me is using the beta rules that are freely available on the stars without number reddit as I feel this gives the characters a few more options to play with and it also is more reasonable with how skill points are assigned.
