[LFP] [5e] D&D Fridays 7:30pm Central

I'll also be giving you more info on your companions, the backstory, what to expect, and answering any other questions you may have.  Just a bit of a back story as to why we are looking for one more player. This is my first time DMing and I've got a group of 5 players I've known online for quite a few years so we are all very buddy buddy and aren't concerned to be ourselves in front of each other. The only problem currently is the group has 1 main voice and the main voice doesn't like to be the only one to be speaking all the time so we need an additional core player (meaning someone who can be there each week) and who isn't afraid to speak up and help lead the group. Like I said before this is my first campaign I've DM'd but we are coming on our 5th session now so I have a decent grasp on how to keep a fun game going. Some things said in this campaign from myself or the players can be seen as mature content so we are looking for someone 18 or older. The setting for the game is in mid-evil fantasy times so wizards, swords, knights, orcs, dragons, the whole Game of Thrones deal. It's played with 5e base rules along with a little home-brewing inspired from Critical Role. I am flexible about working with most backgrounds your character may hail from. Your character would start at level 5 as well. Everyone is always given a fair opportunity to speak their mind or take part in any decision the problem we are facing is a few of our members like to let most of the important decisions be made by one member so I jokingly refer to him as the group leader. The problem is he doesn't want to have that responsibility soley on his shoulders (which I don't blame him) so we are looking for another member who is not afraid to be a strong voice in the group. Often times you will have people who are more shy or due to character personality limit themselves to how much they chose to speak and I am just looking for someone who can fill a more vocal role to help move along the group when need be.

Logan  24 Grogmar Half-Orc Barbarian Outlander (Tribal Nomad) Grogmar was a member of the Wild Heart Clan, a clan of orcs , half-orcs, and humans. That travel on the fringe of society. The are a tribe that is one with nature and wildlife, and despite being orcs and half-orcs, maintain a mostly peaceful relationship with the different groups that find on their travels and only attacking when provoked. Grogmar through years of training and exceptional heroism claimed the title of Protector of the Clan. This was the title just below Clan Chief. Grogmar was responsible for providing and protecting his tribe. One day as Grogmar was returning home from a hunt, he saw a large group on the horizon approaching the light smokestacks that marked his clan's camp. As he drew closer, he saw that it was a horde of orcs. The horde looked to be raging and killing everything in its path. Realizing this Grogmar ran as fast as he could to get to his village, but by the time he had gotten it was too late. His clan was destroyed, tents were burned, and his people were slaughtered. Grogmar spent two day creating a pyre big enough to burn all the bodies. When the deed was done, he turned toward the west in search of civilization and to find meaning in his now empty life. He made his way from town to town drowning himself in ale and his sorrow and get into fights. Yes the day and time should work( however i will not be able to start with the group until August 25) Im sorry it cant be sooner No i do not mind being the main voice of the group 

Hey Logan, while I am looking for a player to fill a more immediate role I would not be against adding another player slot late August if you are still looking to play. Feel free to get back with me when it gets closer to Aug. 25th and we will get you set up. 

Hey Zack I saw you reply to my posting I am interested in playing. While I don't inherently take up lead I've noticed in previous games I have no issue spearheading something. But what do you mean as main voice of the party? Because typically a group of adventurers are banded togather equally to an extent. However here are the details requested: IRL Name: Logan IRL Age: 27 Character Name: Altrius Varis Character Race: Half-elf Character Class: Fighter/Warlock Brief Background: Altrius was a soldier, a lieutenant no less. One fateful day upon returning from a campaign to see his wife and children, he came upon his home destroyed, ransacked, and desecrated. He entered his home, blade drawn only to met with the horrific murder of his family. They looked like dried husks as if the souls were sucked out of them. Grief takes over and he spends hours clutching the bodies of his deceased loved ones. A voice breaks his silence, "Do you desire revenge? The knowledge of whom took your family? The power to do the same to those who took what's most precious to you?" "Yes" Altrius responds as he clutches his weapon once more looking for the origin of the voice. A shadowy figure appears before him and the whole world is like a void, only the two of them visible to the other, himself unable to move. "I am Orcus and I desire the souls of powerful beings. In exchange for my power you must hunt my opposition and offer their souls to me. One of whom is the Warlock that slayed your family. Do you accept?" Altrius paused knowing of Orcus. He was a powerful fiend, "Yes.. But I shall only hunt those who commit such evil." The figures dissipates with a resounding laugh and Altrius finds himself outside his home, his armor, weapons and personal belongings on his person. His home aflame and a new sensation of power building up inside him. He now had his heading, not exactly sure of had just transpired, but he now knew. He was after a Warlock. He requested leave to hunt the murderer, upon approval he left the army to adventuring in search of his quarry. I dislike spell-casting, but I've done it before and can do it. Eventually [insert ingame story] brought him to his current group, where he tries to bury hes disdain for others and work for a common goal. Brief description of yourself : I love the rp aspect of the game and tend to rp when everyone else has stopped because i stuck in the voice sometimes. I've been told im very easy to get along with. I am sorry to say our group is already pretty set on the start time of 7:30pm Central each Friday. I would love to work with you on it but it's just not an option right now Winsa Keo, hey man so far you sound like a great fit so let's get right into your questions. Heads up the goal start date for you would be the 4th of August if you chose to play. 1. It is a mix of both theater of the mind and maps. For battles I always have maps drawn/or made with graphics and for certain towns/cities I will have maps made out as well. Not every room or building or place you visit will have a map unfortunately due to time constraints. 2. I will be happy to supply you with a list of your companions and the premise of the campaign and I will do that after tonight's campaign via private message. (Some of the information on players you receive will be out of game knowledge that your character won't know and I will be sure to highlight those bits for you)  3. I decided to go against all advise I received (lol) and made a completely custom world for the campaign and at this point it does not have an end date in mind. I will say you would be seen as a god by level 20 so expect the end level to be between 15-20.  4. As far as Unearthed Arcana content my players are only using the base 5e players handbook so any content beyond the base players handbook would have to be ran by me but I am fairly flexible about things. The only homebrew rule off the top of my head that I can think we use is you may cast a spell on your action and up to a level 2 spell as a bonus action unlike the traditional rules of only allowing 1 spell cast per player turn. 5. Standard stat rolls from the players hand book for your attributes. (roll 4d6 take the sum of the highest 3) 6. I actually went on a league hiatus back in April so I wouldn't know :( but I too placed plat last season and have been playing since season 2. I will be back sometime but probably not till pre-season. 

Lurik, A couple more follow up questions for you. 1. How much D&D experience and D&D 5e specifically do you have? 2. Would you be available to start Friday 8/04/17 at 7:30pm central? I'll private message you sometime this evening or tomorrow to give you a briefing of the companions you would be playing with and the backstory of the campaign. It'll also allow me to exchange a bit of back and forth with you to judge how well you might mesh with the group.

IRL Name: David IRL Age : 28 Character Name: Haven Guess (female) Character Race: Human Character Class: Mystic from Unearthed Arcana, if you're okay with it, or Sorcerer Brief Background:  Haven grew up in a large town with her father and grandfather, her mother having died a few years after she was born. Her father is a semi-successful businessman, enough that he was able to put his daughter through schooling that most other children did not get. Haven is studious to this day because of her schooling, and a teacher who always pushed her to learn more and reach for higher goals. Haven's grandfather often regaled her with stories of the world's heroes, especially adventuring parties. Determined to be like them, she decided to leave home shortly after her 21st birthday, to the exasperation of her stern and no-nonsense father, who wanted her to eventually take over the family business. Brief description of yourself: I'm a D&D nut, ttrgps in general. I am an avid Critical Role fan and run 2 other D&D campaigns during the week. Are you available every Friday at 7:30pm Central?
