MechWarrior 2nd Edition Interest Check

So... giant robots of death, piloted by space age cowboy knights. Thinking about starting a campaign (I will GM) and want to see who is interested. Let's keep this to people that are familiar with the universe and game concepts. Experienced with the many PC and console games in the universe counts and can help. Reply here if you're interested. Looking for 5-6 players - so a reinforced lance. The group will be mercenaries, pre-Clan War. Estimated game time (subject to change): Monday or Thursday nights, after 8 pm PST. So, kind of a late night game for East Coast players, morning for people in GMT.
If the day changes, let me know. You had me at "mercenaries" but I'm busy then.
actually.. it'd be in the middle of the night for GMT shame would've liked more mech combat
Like i said, times are subject to change, and I'd rather get people that know the systems/universe than worry too much about time. How about you two (and everyone else interested) post availability and we'll see if we can make it work..

I have been wanting to find a Mechwarrior game for so long! It just sucks that both those days do not work for me x_x EDIT: If it was 8:30pm PST on Thurs that would work for me. Also Shawn....is that a Caldari I see?
so... a half hour later changes everything for you? lol, I think we can accommodate such a minimal change. Note to all: I'm gauging interest here. Right now, I have 7 players that have shown that interest. That's already more than I thought there would be. So now its just a matter of trying to nail down a time that works for as many people as possible. The Monday/Thursday at 8ish PM PST looks for ~4 of the 7 people. I am willing to adjust that to get us to the 5-6 I was looking for. Thus... please post as full an availability as you can - days and times. @Phisto: That is most certainly a Caldari you see there. My old EvE character.

Thurs and Friday at 8:30pm PST would work the best for me. EDIT: EvE is pretty badass these days, just got back into it after a hiatus.
I wouldn't mind making this a late night game if there was interest. Though that would still be EARLY for GMT players. My weekends are fairly full, so not sure about that.
Too late for me, I'm afraid, though I always loves me anything BT. After the New Year I need to push my Solaris league idea around some more... Out of curiosity, why 2nd? All of the rule-sets are clunky, and other than some extraneous mechanics, 2nd was okay, but I do admire how easily AToW fits into the larger universe.

I haven't played BT since pre-clan era.
AToW is super convoluted. The rules for mech fights use the ones used in the miniature wargame which feature mechanics that are the opposite of AToW so you have to do all these conversions, plus the face that there is a 300 page book exclusively on combat rules used in the miniature wargame is also daunting.
AToW is a pain in the ass. From character creation on down the line, it's hectic. As Phisto said, the sheer amount of rules and required conversions make it feel more like slogging along than dramatic combat. I like 2nd Edition because of the simplicity of the system/rules - which allows for a little more Hollywood type action/drama in combat and opens the door for more RP - which is really what I'm hoping to get some of in this campaign. Plus, with a mixture of some of the 2ed and CBT rules, we can streamline 'Mech combat quite a bit, while still keeping it fun/lethal. In any event, I'm free Mondays (2:00 pm PST through whenever), Thursdays and Fridays (after 8:00/8:30 pm PST). For now, those are the times I have available, and the campaign will run during one of those segments. I hope that works for some of you.

Is this going to be with mechwarrior rules or the battletech rules?
MechWarrior rules with some house alterations (some of which are drawn from CBT) - i.e. skills are based on characteristics, which are based on attributes. Example: Intuition: 5 Reflexes: 6 Physical Characteristic: 7 (18 - Intuition+Reflexes) Gunery - 'Mech skill is 2 To fire your mech's weapons roll 2d6 Base target number (assuming no modifiers) is 7 (physical characteristic) - 2 (gunnery skill) = 5 So, on a 2d6, you need a 5 or better to hit. Note: rarely will there ever be no modifiers

actually with that example you forgot to add in the range modifier, movement modifier, and if your mech is running hot the overheating modifier then there is also the modifiers for level obsticles like buildings, trees, and brush.

I use to play battletech for the table top minis while we used Mechwarrior for the rpging.
Metro you would also have to factor in the movement of your target, any potential terrain modifiers etc.

I did state above - "(assuming no modifiers)" and then noted that there will never be an attack with no modifiers. I was just giving the basic breakdown without complication so people understand how the system will work
