Introduce Yourself (Player, GM, or both; time zone)

May 20 (8 years ago)

Edited May 26 (7 years ago)
hey I'm a 32 year old guy from Norway. I have 20ish year of experience playing with a close group of friends, playing all kinds of systems over the years, but we've settled in the world of darkness. I'm pretty new to playing over internet and roll20 and fate, but eager to learn.

I am a player and gm both (though player in fate for now, I think).

I like playing all kinds of things but  as a huge star wars fan, sci-fi and supernatural stuff is probably my favourite and I love superpowered (but not necessarily superhero I hope you get the difference) timezone is gmt+2.
Greetings all.
GM (frequently) and Player (whenever I can find someone else to run)
Eastern time zone

My gaming history is too long to conveniently type here. I started back in the late 70's, and dabbled in at least a dozen systems over the years. I have bookshelves groaning with systems I've never played, but bought anyway because they looked neat. The majority of that time was spent playing D&D variants, because that was what people near me were willing to play, but I've spent quality time with the World of Darkness, Shadowrun, Champions, GURPS, and yes, FATE. I'm currently running a Dresden Files game, and ran a couple of one shots for both FATE Core and FAE.

What I really want to do is PLAY the game, as opposed to running it. I'd love to get the feel of the system from the other side. Genre doesn't really matter, but if I can avoid medieval fantasy settings I'd prefer to.

Weekly availability is a bit tricky for me, but longer intervals I can work with.

Hi there. This is Chris.
Fate complete rookie, looking to play to learn so that I may GM my group.
Time Zone: EST/EDT -5 (Delaware, US)

Well, I purchased the Fate Core System book and have read it cover to cover twice. I have watched numerous play throughs on YouTube. So, up front I would be a great player. I have never played but I think that I have a good handle on the mechanics. I would just love a game or two to cement the process.

Down the road, GMing would definitely be in the work.

I work M-F 8-6 and some Saturday mornings and I also run a group Saturday afternoons/evenings here so schedules would need to be figured out. Not a problem though. Drop me a line if you want a player. I use Skype. I can use anything else as long as it is free.

I have a wide range of topic likes, Star Wars being right on top. I will play most anything. Some people have a role they fall into like Beatstick or White Mage. Mine is Team Leader. And I would so love to be along for the ride for once.

Anyway, thanks for the invite, Matt. Looking forward to contributing.

Hello! I'm Eddie from Puerto Rico.
UTC -4
ASTAtlantic Standard Time

I'm 29. I am new to fate and decided to GM for my family. Started a campaign 2 days ago and will have our 3rd session in the coming days. I like

the whole narrative and improvisation room FATE brings and want to try to play the game as a character online. Looking forward to playing with you all :)
Hello all.  I am a complete newbie to FATE.  I've been playing Pathfinder for the past couple of years, and my group will be switching to FATE for our next campaign.  I'm looking forward to learning something new, so I figured I'd check in here to see if I can pop in to a few (or several) sessions.

My timezone is GMT -4, but that's not super important in my case.  I am a rotating shift worker, so I am always around on different days and at different times.  I look forward to seeing many of you in the near future!
Greetings!

I've been an RPG player/GM since 1987. I've dropped in and out of gaming in that time to pursue career and family goals, with a cumulative experience of perhaps 10 years of gaming. Supers, Urban Fantasy and Sci-Fi are my passion, with Classic Fantasy close behind. I really like creating game worlds and serving as a GM, but I am more than happy to serve as a player in a good game.

I dig the FATE setting and I've picked up many of the Evil Hat published FATE core materials, as well as offshoots like the Dresden Files RPG. I have run a few Fate Core sessions for my kids, so I am still learning how to properly use this system.

Sunday evenings would work best for me, but I am open to adjusting the schedule for a good game/setting.

My time zone is US Eastern Standard Time.
Hello!

I'm Lily! I've been playing and GMing for about ten years now. I've only been playing Fate Core for about 4 years though when a friend introduced me to it! I enjoyed it back then and have picked up GMing and playing it quite a bit!

I'm in the US Central time zone, and at the moment, my little pet project is creating and hosting a pick-up game community for a variety of players and GMs :O
Greetings everybody!

I am Dicelord N, and I have been playing/GMing for about five years or so. A few months ago, I became obsessed with FATE because of it's simplicity and versatility. However, finding other people who are familiar with tabletop RPGs, especially more esoteric ones like FATE, has been just about impossible. Most of the groups I've been in have been groups where I was the only one who knew the system and the other players were just friends willing to experiment. I've wanted a group where I can play without having to be the teacher.

I'm in US Central time zone (GMT -6), and my schedule is very open during the summer, but things will change when college starts up again in August.
Hi, I've been GMing and playing RPGs in general for eons and FATE only very recently. Lot's of experience with D&D, but it's really not my favorite system. I really wanted something where the mechanics were based more off what you want to do than activating ability X and reading a bunch of rules off an MtG Card. After I realized FATE wasn't just about asspulling whatever, it really hit the spot.

I started running a liberal OWoD adaptation with FATE and had one session, but I really don't have the best handle on the rules. It's easy to think of things to try and knowing how it -could- be done, but I really need to know how things -should- be done with the system.

CST/CDT time zone, we play on Sunday evenings and I'm actually really short on players recently, but not actively looking yet.
Hi everyone! I'm Naomi. Nice to meet you :)

  • Player and GM
  • Canada, EST

I fell into playing Fate after I went looking for a group running a game set in the Mass Effect universe and couldn't find one. A friend linked me the Mass Effect Fate book and I thought "hey, maybe I could run this". Long story short, I'm now GM of a group, and I'd say it's going well so far, though I'm still getting the hang of things and have a lot to learn.
All that said, I'd love to experience Fate as a player, so maybe I can jump in on some one shots at some point.

Ricky T. here on the Eastern Time in the US and am trying to gather intel to do some fate/fae based tabletop game writing.  I'm going to spectate at first, where possible, to get the hang of it, watch some of the vids on youtube, and then join in one shot and eventually a longer arc and or campaign.

My long game is to convert some of my own fate based creations using ideas from players into fiction.  I may GM later on at some point but that's still a future option.

I've been playing these off and on since AD&D started gaining popularity in the '80's.

Hello!

I am Jax and I have played fate once. I have played a whole bunch of other stuff but then I heard about fate on Game Geeks RPG on youtube and immediately though that that is a system that is suited to many of the kinds of scenarios I like to make up.

So now I have fate and I hope to play a whole lot more and hopefully GM eventually.

My time zone is: "CEST (Central European Summer Time) UTC/GMT +2 hours" but i can generally play any time of day.

Hello, I'm Anthony nice to meet you all. I want to be a player and eventually a GM with FATE, though I have played Pathfinder and the 40k systems before. I have never played the game and have only seen it played on the youtube show Tabletop. As for what kinds of characters I want to play, I honestly will have fun playing most characters. I get so many ideas for dudes in my head that I can make whatever. For when I eventually GM I will be running Atomic Robo since I got that rule book off the Humble Bundle.

Oh and I am in the Eastern (USA) time zone.

Hello everyone,

I posted in March, but I just wanted to update that I am now on EST, since I've moved back to the East Coast of the US. I'm NOT available on Saturdays (since I currently have 2 games and family time that day), and only available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday after 10 pm since my workday ends at 8 pm, and I like to give myself time to get home, get something to eat, and walk the dog. Thanks!

Hi everone, My names Matt. I'm Scottish and am in the UK.  Got standing stuff on Wednesdays and Fridays so cant play games on them, but I can game on other weekdays any time after 6pm until about 11pm.

Very excited about getting to play some Fate, and maybe GMing a bit once I've got the hang of it.
I'm Daniel Ayala

UTC/GMT -04:00 Caracas Timezone
I can play in both English and Spanish
I know Fate, Vampire the masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, Gurps and D&D but I've only play vampire and a little bit of gurps.
I can Draw and illustrate commission to GM's if they want more custom icons and portraits.

I've only been a player but I want to gm sometime in the future. My first RP was a Vampire the masquerade that I was invited and most of my experienced on the roleplaying world has been from hearing stories on youtube (Projared and Spoony mostly). I really want to play and the internet seems the only place to reliably find people to roleplay since most people here don't know a thing about it.

I love the genres of:
Horror
Fantasy
Medieval
Science Fiction
Space Opera
Science fantasy
Political drama (Mostly when it's in a fantasy background)

Hello,
i am Lorenzo from Italy.
My time zone should be CEST Time or UTC/GMT +2.
Role: player

I have 15 years experience in role play games, mainly with D&D3.5 and Vampire (both dark age and masquerade), tho i had the chance to play with some other systems like Legend of the 5 Rings, Start Wars (the d6 system), Marvel Heroes and others.
I've never played a Fate game but i've read the rules (the fate core manual, not the toolkit one), so i should know them. But till you try you cannot truly say to know a system. Also i know there's something called Book of Hanz that expands the rules, but know nothing else about it.
In other words i'm totaly new to Fate core system.
My favoured genre in Fantasy, including Star Wars that i personally consider more fantasy than sci-fi. Tho i have no trouble with any other genre.
My english isn't very good, so i may have troubles to play. I'm used to watch english speaking people on twitch, vidoes on youtube and movies in english, so i hope to be able to play in english.
I'm new to Roll20 system too. Even if i joined long time ago, i know almost nothing about it. I'm starting to dig into Roll20 just now
Hello, names De'Von. Im A Black American In Detroit Michigan. My time zone is Eastern time zone. I'm mostly a player currently looking for another game on Sundays anytime works for me. Let me know if you have a game so i can jion! thank you!

Hello!
I'm looking to play, I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the fat rules. Once I do understand the in's and out's of the game I plan of running games.

I'm John,I'm 47 years old. I have been playing rpg's (mostly D&D) since i was eight. Mostly DMing them. I love rpg's of all sorts and grew very interested in ones like Dungeon world and Fate Core ect..

I run a couple of games on roll20(5E) but i would love to play in a Fate game.

I'm semi-retired from back injury so I'm very open on game availability. With Friday nights and sunday Lunchtime being bad because of my already running games.

I'm on EDT.
Hello, I’m Jordan. My time zone is EST/EDT (UTC -5:00/-4:00).

I both play and GM Fate. As a player, I’ve done several Fate games. I was a play tester for “Jadepunk: Tales from Kausao City” from Reroll productions. I also played in a series of games that revolved around elementary age students getting involved in R.L. Stine style monster stories. I’ve played in a Dresden Files campaign, too.

Typically, my GMing focuses on Fate Accelerated. I typically run one-shots at conventions and free RPG day. I’ve run fate games inspired by Space Dandy, Star Wars, and the Weird West. I am currently writing a one-shot that explores the tropes of alien abduction in a fantasy D&D-style world.
I currently am interested in a couple different things mechanically. Two things in particular are Cliffhangers from the Masters of Umdaar. I think that could be adapted to a lot of games, and would be fun for people who like puzzles just as much as conflict. I’m also interested in creating cities as characters (I once did something similar with a casino security system).

I typically like to play irreverent characters that tend to push the envelope a little far. As for campaigns, I typically collaborate pretty heavily with people to see what they want to play. Just as an example, my home group’s current (Mini-six) game is Elizaebthan fantasy where the players are royal spies, seeking out dissenters against the crown. We’ve also played post-apocalyptic space opera horror. So, really, anything goes.

As of right now, I'm also in school on top of full-time work, so I plan to lurk for the most part. If I get a chance to participate, it'd be on a one-shot basis.

Hi, my name is Andrae. I have doing FATE close to 3 years, now. I started my journey with the Dresden Files RPG. Prefer FATE because of its narrative focus.

I would say the hardest part about GMing this system is explaining aspects to new players. When try to explain it, they can't seem to wrap their head around it.
Hi, I'm Nathan. I am in the EST time zone. I am new to FATE, but really like the pillars of the system and am looking forward to playing and eventually getting the courage to GM my own game.
Hey, I'm Daniel. Been playing various tabletops for 25 years now, but I'm new to FATE. Very interested to try it as I love narrative based gaming. I'm GMT +2.
hey, somehow I never got around to posting here. Name is Dan, I am 40, I have been gaming over 30 years. playing Fate for about 2 years, a few nights a week, online and face to face. I have a large collection of RPGs that I use as Fate sourcebooks now. I am always looking for groups to run so I can have material to post on my blog.
GM, Eastern US Time Zone, fairly open aavailability but I am looking for full time work and I run a lot of games.
Hello!

Coming from Toronto, Canada [EST], Im a GM/player. I prefer to play but GMs are harder and harder to find. I play FATE offline with friends (I Gm), but im always looling for people to play online with to get my fix. I usually get home from work around 4 and can play after that and on most weekends.

im very actively trying to get a group of people together to do a ground up game (building the setting, etc). The Idea is to play a few sessions and see where it goes, and if everyone likes it, continue until we need a change, or change early if its not working. Since Fate is all about the narrarive i think setting is most important.

message me if you're interested!
Hello all, my name is Mike, and I'm from Atlantic Canada. I've been playing RPGs for aa few years of combined experiences, sometimes going for time without and then starting again.

I started with D&D3.5, and a while after moved to 4th ed. For a while that was my only experience. I RPd a lot in the time between my first games and when I picked up Pathfinder. I guess I wanted a more freeform narrative experience at the time. I played Pathfinder for a while, then moved on to more time without TTRPGs. Recently I have started back up. I am playing a game of Star Trek: Adventures, Pokemon Pen and Paper, Masks, and in a few days hopefully WoD.

I saw the FATE system and I think it looks pretty interesting. I've never played it before so I might need a short adjustment period, but I learn quickly so no worries there. I like the idea of modern to futuristic settings better than medieval fantasy currently. I'm not so much looking for the hack and slash. The site is a bit saturated with 5E games at the moment.

I look forward to hopefully finding a game or two to play and learn in.
Hello!

My name is Quin, and I'm from the Pacific NW (PST/PDT timezone). I mostly GM because I am the only one in my gaming group who wants to, so I really want to play more. I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I've been a player. I'm in university right now, and weekends are really the only days I am available, preferably Saturdays or Sundays.

I was introduced to fate through the Dresden Files RPG, and I now own the accelerated edition as well. While I have not yet participated in a FATE system game, I really like the way it looks, and I am excited to jump in and try it out (especially before I try GMing).

I am particularly interested in a game of Dresden Files Accelerated, so if anyone wants to run it you have an extremely interested player already.

Hello all! The name's Dylan. I'm 19 almost 20, working out of EDT(-4)(I think). Time zones are kinda weird, so it's 12:20 as I'm writing this. I'm fairly experienced when it comes to tabletops, almost exclusively as a player, with 5 or so years of D&D under my belt, as well as some dabbling in other systems like FATE core and DFRPG. I'm especially interested in finding Dresden Files games currently, as I'm still reading through and loving the series(For those interested, I just started White Night). I've got plenty of character concepts ranging from a Warden who's been favored by Zeus, and Ferrovax's bastard son, and everything in between. I'm especially excited to playtest the latter, since he's a playable dragon in a Submerged game.I was drawn to DFRPG, and FATE in general, solely for the way they handle character generation. I discovered DFRPG around two years ago, and have spent more time making characters than I have actually playing the game. Granted that's mostly because finding groups on Roll20, or anywhere for that matter, seems to be exceedingly difficult. Of course, I'm also more than open to run-of-the-mill FATE games, though I'll need a bit of help in getting into that. That said, I look forward to meeting and joining whomever might have me ^_^

My name is Titus, I'm 24. I've never played FATE before, but I read a few of the books. It seems like an interesting system to play in. I've mainly played Pathfinder and 3.5 D&D, but I enjoy reading the Dresden Files series, and am interested in what sorts of new environments y'all will put together.

I tend to be free in the evenings, and hopefully I'll be playing with y'all soon.

Been playing Dresden Files for a few years now and running it at uni for one.
mainly i like building characters quite creatively so ive played a blacksmith a half faerie thief and ive just built a voodoo witch doctor kinda character.
As a GM im not much of a stickler for the rules and much prefer creative and fun play and if the characters ens up a little op i can always create a new op badguy.
August 28 (7 years ago)
Hiya guys,

+ Player and (sometime soon) GM
+ Eastern Standard Time (EST)/GMT-5

I'm Gideon. I'm 20 and I've been playing P&P RPGs for about 4 years, but I'd like to say I've been RPing for about 15 years. I was the weird kid who ran around the playground pretending to be a different made-up super hero every week. I've grown to be much more serious in temperament since then, though. My voice sort of grounds me into playing large, macho-men most of the time, but I can stretch my vocal range if I need to.

The moment I heard how aspects work, I knew Fate was an instant favorite in my book. I've been into it for a couple years now, but my experience is not a whole lot more than someone who's only been into it for about a month or two (I could be underestimating myself).

I've tried to run Fate before, but the group I was GMing were a bunch of wild, "comedy role-players" who wouldn't listen to the rules no matter how much I tried to drip-feed them or drill them in. I'd like to give it another shot soon, after I've seen a couple masters at work teaching people how to play.

I plan on running an Elder Scrolls campaign once I get a handle on things.

Hi-ya Everyone,

+ Player (Possibly GM in the future)
+ Eastern Standard time(UTC-4) Available any day between 1pm-10pm (sorry no late games)

My name is Chasity, but I go by Chas and I've been gaming since I was just a wee lass(about 14 years)

My experience with Fate is that I am pretty much a noob to the game, however I do own and have read the core book. I have no issues learning new systems and generally learn fairly quickly. I have been playing D&D(2e,3e,3.5,4,5) forever. In those games I am almost always the DM, but play every now and again.

In Fate I hope to be able to join a game and gain some time playing in hopes to branch out eventually as a GM.

Genres: I'm really open to anything as long as I can incorporate my own "original" or "Semi-original" concept. Role-playing is mostly my focus for games, but I'm no stranger to crunching.

I do have one setback that seems to keep me from getting invited to most games. I do not own a Mic, I use dorm style computers that are not set up for such interaction, I am currently saving up for a nice gaming laptop in between paying for my car, student loans, and ramen noodles. PLEASE PLEASE do not let this dissuade you from thinking of me as an option to your game. I can keep up with voice games I have done it before. I am Loyal and dedicated to the game and  I truly feel that I could add greatly to any experience.

I am really looking forward to becoming a part of this Fate group and meeting people who are like minded and looking to have some fun. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  See ya at the table -Chas ^-~

Greetings Everyone,

+ Aspiring GM
+ Eastern Standard Time (GMT-4)

My name is Blake and I’ve been gaming since 2004.
My experience began with Dungeons & Dragons (3.5) before shifting through various other RPGs including Pathfinder, Dungeon World, Fate, GURPS, and Mutants & Masterminds.
Of those games, I have the least experience with Fate but it is the game I’m most interested in playing more of. Both to gauge how much I enjoy the system as well as to become more fluent with it.
If you’re looking for players I’d love to be involved in your next game so feel free to shoot me a message.

Hey there folks,

+ Player (for now)
+ CDT (UTC -5)

I got interested in RPG table-top games early last year and talked my friends into playing a campaign. Its been going great and I love DM'ing, but I have become very interested in trying out other game styles and FATE seems like it has everything I am looking for. Really just want to be able to play and have a good time without all the complicated baggage and rules-checking that come with so many other games.

Pretty easy going person overall. Love the drama of a good, serious story and staying true to a character. Can't help but crack jokes sometimes and am looking for a game/group that has a nice balance between respecting the narrative and still having a few laughs now and then.

Never played on Roll20 but I have a very good microphone, camera, Discord and Skype, so I should be able to jump in and get playing!
Greetings everyone!
Name is Joseph ~ you can see more info about me in my Profile page.
I had mainly been a GM for Fate Games, but I look into actually becoming a player for a game.
Live in Athens Greece - So timezone is EET (GMT +2 during the winter) and EEST (GMT+3 during the summer)
Mainly interested in Fate Core pretty much any setting as long as it feels interesting at the time I look into it, or if it has anything that hooks me into it.
I am okay with evenings mainly, but at the moment I am not sure which days fit me best.

My actual experience in Fate so far had been 2 games, that I had been running daily throughout this summer and the last one and I am pretty much already organizing a game for the coming summer. More info about it can be found here

Thank you for having me, I hope we can have fun together sometime in the future :D

Hiya!

+ GM & Player
+ EST

I've played tons of D&D games in the past. A few of them were on Roll20. I started looking into FATE about a year ago but never got around to reading the book or gathering players. It's been a long while since I last played or GMed any rpg, though. I'm trying to get back into it since my girlfriend recently started being really interested in it.

I'm hoping to play a few games with the community here, then start up my own Supers campaign once I feel like I have a firm grasp on the system.

Thanks for having me, I look forward to playing with some of you guys.

Hello,

+Player and GM
+CST

I've been GMing for friends on and off for 10 years in 1eDnD, Pathfinder, W40k, and 5eDnd but recently it's been difficult to get games together. So now I'm looking to expand my horizons and try out other systems, especially those that are generic and rules lite like Fate.

I'm hoping to join a game as a player and break the forever GM curse but also so I can get a feel for the system. But I may just plunge right in anyways, I know first hand there are never enough GMs. I mostly want to see what this system can do and want to explore different kinds of settings (though I'm a sucker for sci-fi and cyberpunk) through short mini-campaigns rather than the long campaigns that typically don't see an end.

Thanks for the invite, I hope to see some of you in game.

Hey

I'm Nathan

+ Player
+ GMT+10

Never played FATE before, but very interested in it as a system. Played a whole bunch of other rpgs over the years. DnD (3rd, 4th, 5th), World of Darkness (VtR), 13th Age, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu and currently Starfinder with some of my friends. I'd love to get some FATE experience as all the games on the list are some level of crunchy and rules heavy so I want to branch out and try a more narrative style. Played a small campaign with Dungeon World and I loved it's fast storytelling and not getting bogged down remembering what the particular rule for x was.

I"m in Australia, but am happy to dip over into other timezones if it's a reasonable hour. For the most part I can do during the day as well, which will help with different timezones.

Thanks

Thanks for inviting me, I look forward to playing with you guys

Greetings!

Geoff here, but most online call me 'Dab' from my days playing MMOs..  I am here with my wife (Andrea or 'MeanLady'), looking to start a fresh hobby.  We have always wanted to try tabletop RPGs, and were told by friends that Fate would be a great starting point.  Sadly, we are unable to find any gaming groups local to us, and none that play Fate.  Not to mention, being in our 40's has made it even more difficult to find mature players.  We have read the Core book, ordered some nice dice, and have a bunch of character sheets printed out.  However, we have ZERO idea what we are doing, how it all works, or even how this site (Roll20) works.  So complete and utter newbies. :)

Willing to learn, but being working stiffs, time is limited.  So weekends if planned in advance, or weeknight games would have to start by 6 and end by 10pm max.  I am up at 4:15 am, and not home again until 5:30pm.  The rate-race sucks!

In any case, hoping someone feels like taking us under their wing, remembering just how new we are.  Thanks!

P.S. Sorry for the multiple posts - the site seemed to hang for a bit, then popped up with three posts.

Hello everyone,

I'm not nearly as young as I would like to be, so I've been playing ttrpgs for a long time. Now after DMing DnD 5E for years, I would like to try something else. That something is Fate, since I want to do more talking and less fighting. I have played a Fate like game before and I would like to go back to it. I will be hosting a campaign, most likely played on Sundays 18 GMT+1, urban setting - I will post it into the proper topic plus make lfg post once I've got it prepared.

My name is Eric, and I'm new to FATE.  Long time D&D player - like - got the red box for my birthday in 1983 kind of player.
