Communication Proposals

Gentlemen, Great session last night.  I think it was probably our best one as far as game mechanics and efficiency. That said, we talked a bit last night afterwards and have some other thoughts on party communication. No Communication when unconscious - When one of us gets knocked unconscious, we should not speak over voice chat.  Our character is dead and therefore can't communicate, so you shouldn't either.  Technically, we could mute you in discord or move someone to a "Dead" channel so you can't talk, but we probably don't need to do that.  Just mute your mic and wait to be revived. Communication when separated - Based on map/character locations, try and keep in mind who you can and cannot communicate with.  For example, when the party splits to different rooms, we shouldn't be able to talk with each other.  Therefore, no game related suggestions, warnings, etc.  Feel free to heckle and joke around, within reason for expediency's sake, but no strategy talk. Combat Communication - No talking/Suggestions on someone else's turn - I will admit I'm as guilty as anyone here and will try and work on it.  Turns happen quickly in D&D and these are split-second decisions.  A player should have their turn planned out and just execute it when it's time.  For example, if I say "I'm going to charge in and punch this guy", no one should jump in and say "Wait don't do that!".  Stay muted on someone else's turn unless you want to engage in some quick and pithy heckling.  This will both make the game faster and also more fun, as players will be surprised more often. We're getting better every week and I think last night was awesome.
1) sure 2) yep 3) We all need to be on top of this.  I know i personally look to see what the party thinks in the even i've forgotten something
All points well taken, one thing worth considering: one of Steve Darkmagic's incredible magic powers - I can communicate telepathically, this could open up the possibility of some "high speed" communication if it becomes necessary for reasons other than "difference of opinion" on a course of action.
Telepathy should take effectively the same amount of time as speaking out loud.
Sure, let's try it out and see how it goes ^_^ I'm especially fond of the "heckling" exception :P
