[LF2P][D&D 5E][Friday]Lost Mine of Phandelver, New Players Welcome

Howdy, I have two spots open for a Lost Mine of Phandelver mini-campaign. You will have missed one session (but we'll get you up to speed!) Here's the full listing: Welcome to D&D Fifth Edition! I will be running Wizards of the Coast's Lost Mine of Phandelver module as a one-shot game over 4-6 weekly sessions on Fridays. This will be an introductory game for new folks, to the hobby or to 5E, to learn the system and have fun. I'm mostly an OSR type guy, but I'd like to dabble in the new rule system and see if I like it, too! Lost Mine of Phandelver is an introductory adventure for 4-5 characters at level 1. We will be using the provided pre-made characters (unless you can give me a super-compelling reason why you want to make your own.) The game is open to any/all of any experience and background. I only ask that you don't apply to the game if you can't commit to 4 sessions; I'm not interested in having to find new folks once the game is going. I'm going to open this up to 6 players, although the module is capped at 5, in order to be able to cover one person not showing per game. Also, be prepared to not take the game too seriously - this is for fun! (Sessions will last 4-5 hours). As for me, I have 25 years of experience running games, but mostly with 1E and Pathfinder. My games tend to focus on a mix of role-playing and tactical combat (I like both equally) but we'll be following the module very closely. I've run it once before, and I think it's excellent. I sometimes swear like a sailor, and enjoy games with a lot of laughter. When you post your application to the game, please say what your experience is with role-playing, why you're interested in the game, and if you're positive you can commit to 4 weekly sessions. And if you have any questions, ask! Really looking forward to the game.
PS Friday nights 8-1 CDT.

Hey, This sounds like a really rad adventure and I also swear like sailor and love not so serious role playing. So I am pretty inexperienced, I was a player in a short adventure (3.5E) which we never finished unfortunately. That adventure lasted about 6 months and we ended up being maybe level 5 by the end of it. I also DMed (3.5E) one session of a different adventure. I can definitely commit to 5 sessions, the 6th session will totally depend on what the schedule of this game is. A few questions: 1. Would it be possible to play a rouge? I'd like to roll my own character but I really have no majorly compelling reason I just like rolling my own characters. So, I'm totally ok with pre-made character. 2. What characters are available, if a rouge is not? 3. Is this game text, voice or video? Cool with any just curious.
I'm interested, it looks like a pretty good way to break into real tabletop RPGing.   I have years of experience roleplaying, but little in the way of actual RPGs like D&D, other than some odd one-offs with some friends here on roll20. My schedule is extremely flexible so I can certainly commit to sessions. I am familiar with the 5E system but I haven't played much of it. Basically, I know a fair deal about tabletop RPGs, but have yet to experience what I'd call a full adventure, and I'm really interested in doing so
I'd be interested as well! I'm 23 and I've played RPGs pretty much my whole life, and have done forum based rp for several years (though I stopped a few years ago) and I've played a few short campaigns of Pathfinder (which also happened several years ago, I am very rusty and don't remember much) but have been really interested in getting into different systems and tabletop in general, especially 5E. With my schedule I'd definitely be able to commit to the sessions as well! I would also like to know if the game will be text, voice or video and if we need anything like skype or discord in addition
