"Our people are some of the friendliest around" Now that's just false marketing and I believe we should ask for a refund from the lord of the land. Maybe we can give him a better marketing campaign as well. 

Well at least their hospitality in "Let us Treat You Like the Lord (or Lady) of the Manor" sounds pretty nice, here's hoping (;

the local culture seems as colorful as black and white pixel art to me.

Good news is that we seem to be in the best location to see the Exotic Wildlife!

"Give that man a contract"  That is a great piece of marketing material! Please check in with Ismark the Younger (not the Lesser, that is a rude term by rude people!) would like to speak to you next time you are in the village of Barovia. This is just the kind of new outlook and advertising that will bring the color and richness to the village he has been talking about.
