Game sessions are every Sunday 2pm-6pm central time (that's noon-4pm pacific). We're looking for fun and relaxed people who are willing to seriously commit to a scheduled game and show up reliably and on time. Not the sort of game where you can attend every other week or so, and if you can't make a session, letting me know as far ahead as possible is appreciated. Please keep in mind we are not looking for any big egos, technical illiterates, explicit sexual content, arguments with DM rulings, in- or out-of-game harassment, discrimination, disruptive gameplay or personalities, showing up drunk, etc. Must speak English, be able to install and use Discord with minimal tech support, and have a positive attitude. We use Roll20 for rolls and maps when we need 'em, Discord for voice and text communication, and whatever you're comfortable with for communication outside of the game. Please have your audio situation figured out. You don't need to go out and buy any expensive equipment, but no speaker/mic echo, weird static-y noises, etc. Use Push-To-Talk if you're in a noisy environment, you get the idea. Try to get ahold of a cheap webcam if you don't have one, because every once in awhile I like to have a game session with cameras on in Google Hangouts. We're all guys in our 20s and 30s and we're looking for people in that maturity range. If you feel you're an old teenager or a young geezer, that's probably fine! We've been playing all sorts of games together for about five years, but we're friendly and welcoming to all types of people. Two of us live in Texas, two in Washington. We usually play until we're bored of a system and then vote on the next one. Timeframe on individual systems ranges from one-shots all the way up to multi-year campaigns - just until people aren't having fun with it anymore. We play for four hours (more every once in awhile if everyone wants to), and that time usually contains about one hour fucking around, fifteen minutes to half an hour of break time in the middle, and the rest solid gameplay or in-game planning. If you've never played Shadowrun before, that's totally fine. We're great teachers. If you have played any edition of Shadowrun, you'll know exactly the vibe my game is aiming for: Street thugs equipped with chromed-up technology that doesn't overcome the problems endemic to human nature! Blue-collar wizards in badass longcoats! Hackers who use keytar-sized cyberdecks that plug their brain straight into 80s-style computer simulations! Massive dystopian corporations that make all the rules! Thirty years in the future from the point of view of thirty years in the past! Heists on various corporate facilities, often taking a whole session to plan, with no "right way" or "expected course of action" built in! Investigation, featuring more than just a Gather Information check! Subterfuge where the group is constantly getting the short end of the stick! Cyber-noir in a grey-and-black morality crapsack world where no one important knows your name and if you're smart, skilled, and lucky, you might one day make enough to retire or even inspire the next generation of shadowrunners! Blowing your entire share of the reward on fancy new vehicles/guns/cyberware/magical foci and then begging the other characters to cover your share of rent! Episodic-style one-run-at-a-time gameplay, subverted by consistent contacts, foreshadowing, callbacks, and shadowy masterminds at the worst possible times! Levels of lethality that players from story-based games or modern D&D may find absolutely ridiculous! As long as the whole party doesn't die, the show goes on! First edition Shadowrun does not explicitly feature character creation (I know, isn't that crazy?) so you'll choose out of a list of a few dozen skeleton archetypes and then be given some nuyen and karma (money and experience) to build your character out from there, enough to bring you equivalent to the existing group. Have an idea of your character's personality, but you don't need a fully-fleshed out backstory or anything. We're currently only two sessions into this campaign. PDFs of all necessary books will be shared via a group Dropbox. The group currently consists of a professional bodyguard, a street samurai, and a decker. Feel free to ask many any questions you have! You may communicate via reply or message as you prefer, and you may also feel free to sit in on all or part of a session to get a sense for our playstyle. If you'd like to join, I would like the following information from you: What's your name? How old are you? Go by 'he', 'she', or something else? What do you do for a living? Where you from? What have you played before, and how much of it?
