Yuki posted this on their Rosen Guard game page forum . There some things going toward that you will need to know about the tone and especially this system. It’s important to know this system is not necessarily role based like D&D or Pathfinder. There isn’t any set classes, your personality traits or your defining characteristics are your class and they have a mechanical significance that gives you both good and bad side effects. So in a game in FATE it's more important to have a character than an archetype. It's even more important to have something that fits the setting of the game. Let's do an example to explain what I am a trying to get through. Let’s say there is a character who has the character trait of being an “excitable sprinter”. In the game, this would be an aspect which is a part of your character. However, I won’t give mechanical explanation since I’m trying to help you with your mindset. However, I will link some resource in the end. So this excitable sprinter would obviously be fast. This would be a good thing about them. However, since their a sprinter they may not have toned their arms muscle to the same degree as their legs. Henceforth, you might have troubles picking or moving heavier things. The same is true for being excitable as it can be good or bad as well. By being excitable you might be able to more open to people and idea basically rendering you open-minded. However, this can be bad socially as you might end up getting so exciting you might lose track of something or not be able to think in a logical way. That is the mindset you should have in making your character. Try and avoid having regular RPG archetypes like wizards or roughs. Try and make your character well have characters. To note you are free to make your character as serious or silly as you want, just be sure to note that the world will be silly about them; like the excitable sprinter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMM2xCpnAAU&t http://www.faterpg.com/2013/the-new-era-of-fate-is-here/
