Hearing the terrifying howl pierce the morning air, our brave adventurers
waste no time in their pursuit of discovering the source of the incursion. Near
the southern barricades, they discover a pack of gnolls harrying the guards and
tearing down the defenses.
Our heroes quickly engage the gnolls and manage to repel the invaders.
Unfortunately several guards fell victim to the relentless gnoll assault,
giving their lives in the defense of Oakhurst.
Tragically these attacks seem to be commonplace for Oakhurst. With barely
any time to grieve, the villagers returning to their business in trying to keep
the township going. Our heroes are now more certain then ever that something
had to be done to remove the ever present danger the residents of Oakhurst
face.
The adventurers report to the Guard Captain, a half elven woman with too
many responsibilities and too little resources. Her curt conversation gave the
heroes a little more information but it was clear she had no time to humour
them.
Our loose-knit band proceed to give aid to the township where they can,
some taking jobs and others merely settling into their new surroundings. They
manage to secure the aid of Balra, a mysterious tiefling who seems to have more
of an idea of the history of the area, promising to escort the adventurers to
the entrance of the citadel in the morning.
As the group settles in for a night of rest however, the town is beset by
another attack. Twig Blights prey upon the cattle in the Copper farm and were
it not for the intervention of the heroes, the Copper livestock would have
perished under the barbed thorns of the twig blights.
What dangers lurk in the shadows? Will the Sunless Citadel hold the answers
our adventurers seek, or will they fall victim to the savage gnoll warband...
