EDIT: After suggestions, this will not be a direct homebrew anymore, and instead will follow closely to the Harry Potter and the Tabletop RPG rulebook. I will still have a few alterations, but for the most part the rulebook should be accurate. Hello Roll20, I'm considering the idea of running a Harry Potter game i'm in the process of creating. The system itself i'm trying to keep relatively simple to make it a bit more accessable to people who may never have done tabletop before. I'm looking for players who have an interest in the Harry Potter world and are looking for a slightly more casual game to play. I'm also looking for a friendly group of people who just want to have fun together. I'd prefer people to be at least 18 years old to ensure a mature group, but i don't plan on using any 18+ content in this game. Here is a quick breakdown of how i plan for the game to run. The gameplay can be best compared to that of the Persona games, you'll have your school life where you attend classes and learn spells and potions. Later on, you will be able to explore the castle in order to uncover whatever mysteries you are presented with. (I plan to have this game seperated from the movies timeline so as to create a more original story.) Character creation will involved setting up a list of Personal Stats that will determine how well you handle certain actions throughout the game. Most of the game will use the six sided dice, with higher levels of a skill giving more dice rolls. I do this because i find the six sided dice easier to predict and therefore easier to set appropriate challenge levels so people of a certain skill will succeed at a certain challenge within a certain percentage of the time. You will be able to choose which house you will belong to and how your skills start out, with the only aspect of your character you cannot choose being your birth. I plan to use discord for voice chat during the games. I'll require people to be on the voice channel so i can communicate easily, but i don't require players to use voice if they do not want to. Above all, i want to make sure that this is a friendly group. Tensions were a little high at some points in my last group, and i'd like to avoid that if i can. Since this is a Homebrew i'm open to some interpretation on how the mechanics should work, even some advice on how to make it, as long as we can keep it brief and not disrupt the flow of the game. I honestly just want everyone to have an enjoyable experience. I am still in the process of creating the system, and if you have experience with creating systems i'd love to bounce ideas off of you. If you are interested either leave a comment here or send me a PM on roll20 and i'll get back to you. I'd like to have around 5 or so players, but i can run a larger group if interest allows for it. A start time or a time we would be playing has not been decided, but i would like to try and play on the weekend, either in the afternoon or evening. Again, if you have any questions let me know and i will get back to you.
